Which Tyres?

Must confess I'm not keen that reflective strip on the Voyagers.

It's been said in this thread before but peeling it off then colouring in the light band that remains with a sharpie or similar works well and the result lasts.

Currently thinking Clement LLG/LGG (seems to be some confusion about that)

Two weeks ago now so @%~} has probably already bought some tyres but it's LGG - because (geek fact) they are named after the airport code for Liege. I can't wait for the Ryanair branded STN...

I have no experience of the Babyshoe Pass tyres but if they're like my Compass Jon Bon Jovi's they won't actually work tubeless, will have all the puncture protection of a daddy long legs and @amey will question their grip in corners.

Interesting, I was considering treating myself to some of these near-mythical tyres for tubeless but now this has given me pause.

I'm running Extralight Jon Bon Jovis on my wet weather commuter. They are tubeless. They work pretty well (although not in the G-one plug and play sense).

I quite like the temperamentality of them - you never quite know what pressure they'll be at - pop a bit more air and/ or gunk in them and they'll perk up again - bit like me.

They are supersupple, very comfortable and roll over the challenging parcour of my inner London journey to and from the workplace beautifully.

Also you never know when you might get a chance to stop and smell the roses in the Regents Park inner circle to pump them up a bit before attempting Primrose Hill or the Heath.

By contrast the G Ones on my gravel/ dry commuter bike just work very well. I get places faster on that bike - but I'm not sure it's more fun though.

23 mm internal rim width. I have Gravel King SKs in 47 that come up at 52, and Gravel King slicks in 42 that measure 42. Anyone know if the slick 47s are true to size?

Incidentally, my Gravel King 42s don't have TLC printed on them, but the bead looks identical to the SKs, and AFAIK the 42s don't come in a non-tubeless. What gives?

@TvH: My tlc 47mm gk are between 49 and 50mm on dt m442 rims - 22.5 internal width - inflated to 2.2/2.3 bars.

Mine aren't extralight so we're not quite comparing apples and apples, but I'm perhaps being a bit unfair on their p******e protection. I might try them (tubed, as neither I or my LBS could make them work tubeless) for commuting as I'd like bigger tyres and gumwalls and I already own them...

G-One Speed

so, i need new tires and im tired of my grand prix 4000 S.
Road only, can fit 25 max as otherwise my break will rub on the tire.

any recommendations? not tubeless.

Try veloflex records. Gumwalls, fast, brittle.

Or challenge strada. soft, grippy, wear and puncture quickly .

Has anyone tried both the G-one speed and allround? Lots of people on here saying good things about the speed, but my 35c allround don't seem all that great on the road. Back wheel locks up very easily on tarmac. Nice and comfy on gravel though.

I found the G-one allround 650b a bit slow going on my isen. So am switching to 700c g-one speed for audaxing.

I’ve tried both on the same bike recently - if you’re doing more off road get the all round - if it’s more road try the speed. To be fair the speed are pretty good off road too but mine were getting a bit worn and I wanted a drama free gravel dash so swapped for 35c all rounds - they did what it said on the tin.

I cycled through Hyde Park today and saw a KTM rider, hoped it was you, it wasnt :(

Probably gonna buy them for my monsterwhateverconversion, as the current 47 mm wide ones tend to rub the fork a bit.

for the last roughly 20,000 km i've run exclusively g-ones (the 38mm ar, old g-one, 35mm g-one speed, and 30mm s-one) and have had 2 punctures, both on worn out tires, both of which sealed.

Sorry I was on the brompton yesterday. You may see me on a White SH300 in the West End today! #hangoverwheels
