  • Just thinking about how misleading dimensions of a watch can be on paper and I'm not sure exactly why it happens.

My Max Bill Chrono is 40mm but feels larger than that on the wrist.

My Garmin Fenix 5 looks and wears like a 42mm but is actually 47mm.

My sub is 40mm but wears like a 38mm.

Maybe it is down to lug length or thickness too?

Both of those are huge factors. The traditional width measurement doesn't actually help that much.

The lug shape and bracelet interface also matter - with bracelets you should really measure from the point of no flexibility.... but how on earth can you do that in a a standardised way?

Severity of profile contributes a bit too. Something like a Nautilus has very rounded edges, so even the bigger models slim down. Whereas a lot of dive watches look like they sit high.

On the digi tuna - were you tempted to get the Pepsi bezel?

  • Very tempted but couldn't find anywhere that wasn't sold out. I think, on balance, that I went with the one I prefer though. Just.
