They have Samuel Smiths out there.
mind-blown!gif -

Fuck. Rotten luck, hope you can get it sorted.

Jackson is a decent town.

I recognize that bar :) Good luck with the bike hacking. JH is full of outdoor sports shops, I bet there are welders around - though Sunday is tough.

That’s shitty Darren and gutting, on a positive note due to the local oil industry you should be able to get that fixed.

Can't believe that you have been riding a bike held together by a frame bag.
Taking epic to the next level.
Hope it gets sorted.

I think I’ve found the source of the ‘speed wobble’ that’s been killing me for the last couple of days.
Nasty.
The bit that surprises me is that the bike shop missed it.
Fwiw a TAW rider has had Kinesis ship him out a replacement frame and arranged a bike shop to express refit his setup onto it, to avoid their reputation being shot! -

Holy shit! Do a Eugène Christophe and weld it yourself!
Best of luck in getting it fixed though. It's ti though right? -
• #1961
I’d probably just buy a new frame. Welding thin walled Ti must be quite a specialised skill?
-
• #1962
It is. Plus the tube is likely double butter which means it’ll be thinner there and almost impossible to repair through a weld. You can fix a crack around an existing weld, you just add more material to it, but that doesn’t work in the middle of a tube.

• #1964
Ooof. Bad luck. Fingers crossed you can find a solution ASAP.
-
• #1965
Sleeve it? From the photo it does seem classic place for down tube to crack, closer to the HT and the tubing is stiffer.
Given that there’s a fork bolt (light fixing?) directly opposite to the crack then wonder if dented when spannering? Crack then starts on dent crease.
Holes drilled for di2 cables are problematic too. -

Double butter,? You rang?
-
• #1967
You need to McNasty that.

I rode 300k with a cracked down tube and a zip tie. Mine wasn't all the way through though, it was growing slowly.
Hope you can sort something Dazz
Maybe a velo mobile? :)

I thought the velomobiles would suffer more in the hills but make up for it once they were on the flat(ter) stages...

On such a hilly route I'd expect they're more of a hindrance than a help.
Really didn't expect them to be at the pointy end at the end of the hills.

I bet they drafted hippy to get a bit of an aero advantage.
-
• #1971
That'll buff out.
Hope they get you back on the road soon. Just make sure you don't let anyone else operate the bellows.

Bloody hell! Seems to be a lot of broken Ti frames on here recently (but no doubt not ridden as hard as yours the past week)!

Darren's frame isn't a Kinesis is it? I thought he had a J.ACK Laverack. Before it developed a fatal crack.
My Ti Kinesis is out of warranty so if it cracks I might enter an ultra to get a replacement...

Sketchy bit of the route, appears to follow I-80 for 15 miles. Almost certainly illegal and the speed limit is probably 80 or 85 mph.

Well, the velomobile riders are just going to grab a flicker of brake, then. :)
Don’t bother with the Snake River pish. The chocolate stout is pretty good though.
