In summary: "Yeah, like yeah, it was, like totally me that got us here, but it's not MY fault it has ended up so fucking terrible. That's down to everyone after me."

Yes, I was under the impression that if found guilty he would just pay a bit of a fine. But it appears people do go to prison for it, I'm all for Dominic Cummings going to prison.

Today I had a self proclaimed beexiteer explain to me that the financial costs of Brexit don’t matter as long as we get our sovereignty back.
It doesn’t matter that we were lied to or that what was promised isn’t going to happen.
It’s impossible to debate with that level of stupid.

He was happy to admit spreading fear over immigration and a lie over a bus won leave. And he's been washing his hands from his win that made nearly everyone lose ever since.
He can rot in prison as far as I am concerned.

Corbyn promises no hard border, but does not put forward a plan. So far all other plans have been rejected for various practical reasons.
We shall see.

Fuck you Europe you bunch of work-shy cunts. Sodding french air traffic control on strike so cancelled our flight costing us a grand to take the train. Going to take tea, baked beans and marmite so I don't have to buy your stinky cheese and flaky croissants. Suck on that forrins.

I ended up in the same situation, 200 euros more.
The French are protesting as the government wants to push through reforms using laws that let them bypass parliamentary approval.
This is happening on a grand scale with Brexit, yet not much is happening here.I rather have kept my 200 euro, but I support their strike.
[Ryanair canceled the flight and then sent an email with "flight canceled, 20% off hotel rooms with us!!!" lolz....]

So they now propose to have a joint EU/UK zone for Northern Ireland.
It's sorta funny and sad how trying to work around the NI border problem/the GFA leads to super complex solutions that may just not work after all and that the DUP may reject anyway, even though NI is now at 69% remain (it was about 54, but polls show people changed their minds)
We are held hostage by idiots.
-
• #11636
Am I being stupid? That doesn't really solve anything does it? You'll need a customs check in at some point once the goods come out of the EU buffer zone (NI) on their way to the UK...
...which the DUP will reject

Mr. Thick-as-mince appears to have no evaluatory process between his every (alcohol-induced, allegedly), thought and his vocal chords.
Still, it's been a slow week, and this soundbite may take a couple of days to be thoroughly debunked by Barnier and the other adults representing the EU27.
I'm guessing that any utterance that leads to a 'Non' from Barnier is seen as a victory in DExEU and Gammonland. -
• #11638
Nope you are not being stupid as that is exactly what will happen.
The DUP is screwing us all because they believe the stories from the DExEU that there will be a solution for NI that is not super costly. But they have always been Tory shills.

I think he's just come off binging on The City and the City
Both cities exist in the same physical space, but remain distinct because citizens of one are taught from childhood to “unsee” the people, buildings and events of the other. Anyone caught crossing these psychological borders, or “breaching”, risks punishment from a merciless and all-powerful authority, confusingly referred to as “Breach”.

Busy day for May coming up. 15 Bills to overrule in a single day.
Sounds like a lot of sovereignty and democracy coming up...

Trying to get Dominic Cummings to given evidence to DCMS. The correspondence (at the end) is marginally entertaining.

This is a potentially interesting development, Labour effectively supporting retained membership of the single market.

But they've been saying things like "alignment with the single market" for a while, while also saying they want"no freedom of movement". And that's a deal not on the table.
So I don't know what this means in practice...if it's waffle or a genuine commitment :)

It's a photo of a piece of paper, but "no new impediments to trade and common rights..." does sound like free movement to me.
