If you have a look at my previous threads, I tend to sell the bikes done up to a decent standard around the price of a monthly TfL Travelcard for Zone 1-2-3 (£153.60).

I have something cheap, it's an old Carlton Clubmam, basic single coat respray but a really nice old 531 DB frame and forks. have some wheels again cheapos and some components. I'll pm to discuss.

I have an 853 argos in 53 with 1 inch carbon fork. Headset included. Price will be cheap as the paint is a bit ratty

Not sure single speed action is what the lady in question is looking for.
Like me, she is from the north, where 2007 is yet to happen.
I am helping the daughter of a friend, who has recently moved to London, find a suitable bike for her commute.
She's 5'7", so I reckon around a 53 should do the trick.
The bike needs to be reasonably light, as apparently she needs to carry it up a couple of flights of stairs.
I'm looking for either a vintage-y full bike, or a frame and fork I can build up.
She's a student, so budget is 'utilitarian'.
