That was the plan for mine originally, but then I kept the frame that was doing that already, and which works perfectly well for that purpose, so decided to make this more off-road orientated. I've heard of someone using it for TCR though so obviously pretty versatile.
MY CP thread (yes it took 2 years to finish!)
Word of warning, the cable routing to the rear mech is a bit dodgy, but they might have addressed this in later revisions. I think I'll just run a full housing run at some point.

I have a medium and there's a fair amount of toe overlap. Especially if you mount mudguards.
I use mine as a tourer and commuter and a fair bit off road. I quite like how it rides - stable and solid. -

@Silly_Savage and @MisterMikkel
Thank you for the replies. I'll have a mull over this and decide if I pull the trigger and get one! -

1st gen Day One for my best friend! :)
Got everything to build it up- just waiting on creative input/process from him as to what we should do about paint/polish/clearcoat.

That looks like loads of fun. Chain is a bit slack though, no?
-
• #434
Yeah man, my chain tool is playing up so i just left it as is for now. It's single speed so its not that much of an issue.
Will tune up next week when i next see my best mate(its his bike, i just sourced/built it

Currently kitting out a genesis equlibrium (medium 2017) for some big bike packing trips. Has anyone attempted or had any issue with mounting a bottle holder underneath the down tube?
I've got a frame bag in the main triangle and struggling to get more than two 500ml bottles in the frame. I was also going to try and mount a bottle cage further down the inside of the seat tube but concerned that it won't be able to get past the clamp on derailleur.
I need water man!

check out the minoura sbh-300. allows 2 bottle cages to be mounted on the saddle rails. can also easily bungee a dry bag or tent to it (unless youre gonna use a saddle pack i suppose)

probably preaching to the converted here, but any interest in this XL Day One?

I’ve had good success using hosepipe clamps on my Croix de get (before it changed to the third bottle cage mount). I used a bit of old inner tube to stop it scratching the frame, and haven’t had any issues when carrying standard 750ml bottles.
I do use a toe strap just to be sure the bottle stays put as it’s a cheapo cage I used, and don’t tighten the clamps too tight as I can imagine it’s be easy to cause damage/crush the downtube.
There’s a picture on pg1 of this thread if you wanted to see.
Re lowering bottle cages, mount skidmore do a dropper mount, and there was one reviews on road.cc recently by Topeak(?). Others have had success with the di2 battery holder but I can’t say much about that.

Really like that mount but you're right in that I have a saddle pack. The only thing I haven't gone for yet are handle bar bags /feed bags but I find all the up front attachments to be awkward at best.

I've just ordered three king cage usbs. Two to use on the down tube as you have done and one for the seat tube. I eyeballed it but I think I can use the lower braze on and one clamp to mount the bottle cage one step down.
Will show my results if anyone's interested.

Love my Volare 931 Disc so much, I got a rimmy to match. Giving my Talbot road bike a makeover in my spare time over the summer, so going to build this up as a stop gap.
Came to me as a pretty knackered old Madison Genesis Team bike. Bit of elbow grease yeasterday and it’s come up up good as new. Gonna leave the frame raw. Need to paint the fork .... not sure if I can be bothered to do anything fancy with it though.

My Croix de Fer handled ten days of bikepacking in Scotland very well last week! Weighs a fair bit, but you're never smashing it fully loaded, still managed to get up a 20% hill in the saddle.

What's fork clearance like?
-
• #447
I'm glad you asked...
I pumped the tyres up to 65psi. It looks tight and to be honest I was concerned so I stuck a bit of tape inside the fork to give me a clearer indication of whether the tyre was rubbing on the inside of the fork. I started out steady on the road. Checked for rubbing. Then hit some slightly bumpier paths. Checked again. Then went all out climbing in a big gear to throw my weight around to see if it would rub under the greatest lateral movement. No rubbing at all. I'm so pleased/relieved as I know some people were dubious.

Nice work. And on the rear? I was under the impression that you'd lose a bit of clearance there due to crimped stays.
-
• #449
The rear is fine - plenty of clearance, even with 1.75" Gravel King.
I got home an hour ago and I'm still smiling. It was the most fun I've had on a bike in years (see photo).

see above ;)
I was thinking the same. The saddle looked unnaturally high so may ask to test out a large. I was also wondering if there would be an issue of toe overlap on the smaller ones?
Are you using yours on road much at all? How does it hold up?
For me I wanted a kind of "do it all" sort of thing, and the vagabond appears to tick a lot of boxes.
