It was painted black,
what frame do you have as I am looking for a replacement seat post for mine and can't find anything, I was going to speak to a mate in Poland if he knows anyone that could make a few copies, the only other option is the Shimano Dura Ace AX seat post with the rubber gromit to stop water getting in to the tube.
ah i thought you were taking the piss, cool yes its an old polish frame. let me know if anything turns up, cheers

Any photos?
If I can source a nicer one for myself then you can have mine but be warned it may take years. I will have to lock mine to my bike now ;o((

thanks for all the comments guys, recieved this off columbus:
I know very well the kind of seat stay you are trying to find.
I can tell you itβs almost impossible to find one.
You can try to contact EuroASIA Imports in the US.
I know they have a large stock of old parts You can tryβ¦also got some very helpful info off my mate, but most options are suggesting paying a lot to have a carbon one made or holding out and sourcing an old one
lols from euroasia:
Thank you for your inquiry. I know the post you desire however we no longer have stock, we sold our last one about 15 years ago.
Regards,
Dave Lundegard / Euro-Asia Imports
I have one.
thats nice
Hilarious

A decent machine shop would be able to make a shim to hold a conventional seatpost, just make sure that you give them the correct dimensions.
+1
Easy, cheap, what's not to like?
Why are you even bothering trying to find a post that does not exist?

no i agree, iv only been trying to get one for 1 day and a few options have come up, the only problem i can see with the idea above is the post is so narrow that to use a round one with a shim would mean basically using a solid rod of metal, im not sure i could get a real seat post thin enough

My thoughts exactly. It would have to be tiny! And it would look ugly. Did you call the Carbon people?

Maybe this SP fits with a custom made adapter.
Colnago Oval CX
Maybe just as rare as the Columbus Air one. -

No idea if it would be any use to you, but there's another Shimano aero one on ebay:

yep im already watching that one, thankyou though, if these dura ace ones fall through i may just sell the frame

stop being a pussy and make a carbon one yourself.

Did you ever sort this out?

did you find it?
if not i have a piece of advice. i have a vintage vedovati made out of columbus air tubes. it has its original seatpost. since i love aero stuff i also have a motobecane profil 3 bike.
motobecane used the same teardrop shaped tubes and the seatpost fits 100% evn though it is not from columbus.
if you are interested i have one. if you need pictures or you need to see how it fits , just contact me.you could also search around for a motobecane profil 2 or profil 3. you can buy thos for little over 100Β£.
you may also discover that they were pretty clever in the whay they locked the seatpost in place. most columbus air frameset have the seatbolt area damage due to excess tightening.
anyway this is my email address

After 6 years i still need a post for this frame, got a dura ace one that fits but is too short had the frame moving from house to house and never ridden. Any new developments... Orr anyone want to buy a sweet frame (seat post not included) ;)

All of these years later, & I'm now on the hunt for my (using a soon to be built Columbus Air tubeset) replica of Lemond's '89 BOTTECCHIA TT bike, with which he not only made up the 50-second deficit that Fignon (RIP) had on him before the final TT stage but then won the Tour in the final stage by a mere 8 seconds! I own EVERYTHING ELSE required to complete the build once it's built & then painted up perfectly...
However, I now require an appropriate seatpost to fit a Columbus AIR frame that comes with the tear-drop shaped seat tube, rather than the other type of AIR seat tubes, which were able to accommodate a regular, round seatpost.
So if ANYONE sees this email & either a) owns a suitable seatpost that he/she is happy to sell to me or b) knows of an alternative to the original Columbus AIR, Motobecane Profil 3 or Shimano AX seatposts - either an original model or a viable option re: someone who is able to produce an appropriate seatpost from alloy, carbon or whatever, then PLEASE let me know!!
Thanks heaps to anyone who has read this message & cheers & best wishes to all...Matt.
PS. mattforrester73@gmail.com or @lavielemond on Twitter if either of those are more suitable.
