  • Hah you and me both!

Not 100% decided yet but definitely wishbone and probably Spirit in the main triangle. Sam is figuring out how best to get the rear wheel tucked in behind the seat tube.

I just need to make a decision on headtube size and fork diameter. 44mm and tapered maybe.

  • Bend seat tube?

Go for straight head tube :-)

  • Bank Holiday Dreaming.

I am thinking about Olive Drab U.S.A. Tribute paint scheme for my GT Edge Cyclocross.
46/36 and 11-28 for summer dirt roads and credit card touring... I have no need for this, but you know..

  • Yes

  • 100% back this

  • I think drab olive is at risk of becoming a little bit cliche on gravel bikes (much like tanwalls).

That's the problem with bikes, there are only so many colours and we've pretty much done them all by now

  • That's alright tho. I already have one. Which I will sell again at some point.
And I have had another olive drab before that. I am into earthy tones in general and for this it just feel like it should be matte olive drab.
But it could be any colour i guess.
I have been toying with ultra marine blues as well. Or mustard even. Or desert storm shceme

  • I forgot to mention, the bike sounds like it's going to be incredible regardless of colourscheme. I had a GT once which was absolutely awful, I swear it weighed over 20 kg (~2007 GT Aggressor). But everyone else has got these super-cool retro MTBs or 700c commuto-gravel things that are really cool. I'm getting one if/when one of my beaters dies.

  • I think RAL6008 is a pretty handsome colour. Still earthy but not all out OD.

Alternatively you could go for something like RAL5001 if you want blue.

  • Cool. How about doing a metallic base and matte top coat. Gives a little more depth to it. We use that effect at work a lot, and it works really well on deep saturated colours.

  • I am limited to my powder coaters abilities.

  • Perhaps perhaps.

  • Maybe

  • Just order fancy powder. There are more options than people think :) https://www.prismaticpowders.com/shop/powder-coating-colors

  • that blue is nice!!

  • That's what I thought. Reminds me of old vices and tool chests.

  • You know made me think about RAL 5002 Ocean Blue

  • That looks very nice too!

  • I like the Ocean Blue.. But I have also some warm thoughts about a dark purple burgundy type paint job. I think I want a matte paint job

  • I terms of build list it will be the best from my parts bin + some new bits

    WI front hub

    Ultegra rear hub

Square taper cranks. Poor man's WI. I am thinking about making some custom brass dust caps for these to make fly.

    46/36 SRAM chain rings

    5800 shifters + mech + 11-28 casette.

Brakes will probably be TRP CX9 or 8.4.

I am not sure which rims to go for yet. Maybe some H+Son TB14, Mavic A319 or Kinlin something. Nu sure yet.

It will feature a gas pipe stem and Ritchey Venture Max bars

  • This is better, the purple is a bit:

  • I had a frame painted for the girlfriend in RAL5020 with matte topcoat, utter ballache to keep it clean. Looks nice in all black finishing kit though.

  • All the mattes are hard to keep clean no? But I sort of want it dirty/dusty looking...

  • Thanks, I bought a set. But I want someting 35-40c I think. If WTB Byway came in 700c that would be good. I think the dark brown gum wall would look good. But I have some Challenge Gravel Grinder Plus 38c I will run to begin with.
