Might this be a solution? Once the receiver is in place and connected with your iPhone charging port, seal it with some sugru or something?
-
• #12853
Nah I’d rather get the port fixed.
-
• #12854
There's nowhere cheaper than the Apple store for the batteries right now, so you may as well have them fix the connector too.
-
• #12855
would they charge twice?
-
• #12856
If it charged at all it would be better. Boom boom!
No idea. Do they have fixed prices for connector replacement?
-
• #12857
Just popped into store they said they can’t replace connector, and would be £309 to replace the handset. He did un curl a paper clip and dig out a shit tonne of fluff from the port it’s currently charging. Will see how it goes over the next couple of days/weeks..

What is it with GPU soldering that is so difficult?
have you tried this?
if you had you would know

I want to remap some of the buttons of my Logitech G9x but the mouse doesn't show up in the Logitech Gaming Software. Does anyone else have this issue or a clue how I can fix this?
I tried turning it off and on again and Google tells me to run the software as an admin which I'm not sure how to do on a Mac -
• #12860
I’ve got the same issue with my 6S. Some weeks it’s a proper lottery if it’ll charge at all, some weeks it’s working perfectly.
Picking out lint helps most of the time, but there seem to be some weird randomness to it as well

What are the odds the iMacs get updated at WWDC? Seems unlikely as they were covered last year after a two-year gap.

Used fine dental probe to remove impacted crud from flakey lighting port 6 months ago on our iPhone SE and still working :)

Close to Zero %, I'd guess...

I use a wooden toothpick, softer than the metal inside so less prone to scratching

Anyone looking to shift Mac mini? Preferably 2012. The cheaper the better.

I somehow messed up. I did a WhatsApp backup, forgot to include videos and started to backup again. At some point I forgot that the backup was still running and factoryresetted my phone.
Now I get the message that the backup can't be restored. Is there any possibility to fix it? -

Has anyone had their MacBook screen replaced because of the anti-reflective coating issue and if so what's the quickest way of getting them to sort it?
https://www.macrumors.com/2017/11/17/apple-extends-free-staingate-repairs/
-
• #12868
yep. download the apple support app, arrange a call and book the repair. I did this last year, I had to leave my macbook with them for a couple of days IIRC
-
• #12869
Fluff was going to be my guess (and use wooden toothpick as someone else said). Also double check the charging cable, they seem to go in collaboration with the fluff-blocked port.
-
• #12870
Yeah, I got mine done at a 3rd party place. Was really straight forward, took a couple of days for them to get the new screen in but turnaround was really quick.
-
• #12871
Ah that's useful to know. I've got a 3rd party place around the corner from work so glad I won't need to hit Oxford Street or Covent Garden
-
• #12872
Yeah it’s charging more easily now, but it seems to be picky about which cable it works with now, one in particular in the front room nothing seems to want to charge off. Then you try it a couple of hours later and it charges..
weird. -
• #12873
Probably more fluff in the corners!
-
• #12874
i got mine done foc at apple. that was last year for a macbook pro mid 2012, when they first introduced retina. so probably worth checking

.
Ah fucking apple mac pros and fucking shite soldering. What is it with GPU soldering that is so difficult?
So replacement mac, yeah 7 years old and TWO yes two replacement motherboards, the third is dead.
Looks like the battery throttling is on the laptops too.
