Can the brompton run tubeless?
-
• #4104
Not on the brompton, used slime tyre liners, then used old inner tubes cut up.

Used this stuff http://www.wilko.com/view-all-bike-parts-and-accessories/wilko-tyre-sealant/invt/0344045 in car and motorbike tyres. Car tyres, when the rims become a bit air leaky and motorbike tyres when there is a puncture.
Easily washout from a tubeless tyre.

No, as I say, just add tubeless sealant to your inner tubes.

I think I'm becoming Brompton curious. Probably a repost, but this is pretty sweet:

for me, I see so many things that are done because, not because functional...
Disc brakes on 16" wheels? so overkill and just not needed.
2 speed internal? - the beauty of the 2 speed is the lack of weight..
belt drive? yeah, just no.
And the cost...hope brakes, £300+
custom fork ..
custom rear triangle..
ti post..
belt stuff...cannot even imagine.

Those mudguards are fucking awful.
The rest is questionable.

Those mudguards are fucking awful. - so much time for this.
-
• #4111
Double layer? Aka slime liner and inner tube liner?
-
• #4112
Oh yeah, total dentist's bike.
Belt drive kind of makes sense on a travel bike, but probably a fucker to live with in reality.
-
• #4113
thing is, its not even dentist bike IMO.
That would be a superlight, with a premium paint finish, ti bar/post, 2speed brompton hub, maybe schmidt dynamo set up if you fancied that.
Its not functional or beautiful... its a bit lost.
Belt drive, again, IMO, just doesn't have a place compared to a chain.

So far so good, I guess as long as I don't try to overfill it. I see why they had to do it that way though.

We also have a second O bag, 2 t bags, a basket and a tote bag in the house, so we just pick what we need on the particular occasion!

That's a decent shout, I can see a bit of rubbing when in the largest sprocket. Will have a fiddle. Cheers!

custom fork
The steel original Brompton fork feel a bit cheap though

@umop3pisdn, check your limit screws, mine is now all sorted. Thanks @maynardeames 👍🏼

You guys think this'll be comfy?
Haven't tried yet but it doesn't look it'll be.

Is your Brompton riding position that aggressive?
-
• #4121
I ride a Brooks B17 cut down to a Swift but most comfy saddle a ever had.
They say it takes 500/1000 km's to break a Brooks in but in my experience it takes only a 100/150 if you rub it in with leather wax let it soak in overnight and then ride a good long ride.

I've converted mine with Ben at Kinetics

You mean it doesn't justify that saddle.
Which is right indeed. Anyway used yesterday for a short ride and is not too bad.
I have a Brooks B17 in black on another bike, might swap them out. -
• #4124
Yeah I might probably switch to the B17. It's made for a more touring position I think?

Cant find any reason to fault mine!
you can put sealant in anything, continue using inner tubes as normal, just with sealant inside them!
