We found Bright to be good, but not excellent.

For during a birthday trip; any recommendations for a burger place in Amsterdam? MEATLiquor / Cut&Grind kind of thing?
Or anything else meat-centric I should look into over there?

The Butcher is pretty good.
Cannibale royale is also worth a look for general meat.

Also Cafe De Klos. No reservations, just put your name down and wait in the bar across the road. Get the ribs.

Also might be worth looking at Graceland Bar-B-Q or Venus & Adonis

Anyone been to Smokestak in Shoreditch?

Yes - I've had mixed meals there. Food has ranged between exceptional and average. Service last time I was there was a shocking but the owner apologised to me and I'm willing to think it was an off day for the staff member. Depends if you're dead set on smoked meats and in East London.

Anyone have any other charred meat recommendations in centralish London that won't break the bank?

Blacklock is decent value for lots of meat.

Spotted @Tenderloin and the missus at The Duke of Richmond soft launch last night. Hope you enjoyed the Faulty Towers level of service as much as we did. At least they didn’t make us pay for much of it.

Haha yes although our service was pretty ok - compared to what seemed to be going on around us. A few false steps for the food. Found the crab Soufflé a sad soggy affair and the scallop was very oily and underwhelming (plus 1 scallop?!). The sweetbread vol au vente was excellent as wasn the tomato tart, skate and burger. Also chucking some warm lumps of strong cheese into a salad is a great idea. Strong wine list as well.

Can anyone recommend a good/fancy-ish place to have a drink near City Hall/Tower Bridge? On A Friday. Shudder.

I’m looking for somewhere near to the Kingsland Rd for a Friday evening dinner for about half a dozen. Not mad pricey, just good tasty food and good atmosphere.

They've recently been going up in price owing to their popularity, but should do the trick for your requirements (assuming you mean any part of Kingsland Road and not a specific area--it's quite long).

Bún Bún Bún has been my go-to for ages now. A significant cut above the rest. Small though.

I used to live on the kingsland. Mien Tay is the best.

Had dinner in Kitty Fishers last night, expensive but as wasn't paying was great
