I love my diamante pro radiale. Very nice for the tiny size. My 22mm was from PX on special I think?

Finally gathered enough parts to rebuild both my holdsworths, both intended to be ridden long distances and loaded, just don’t have racks yet.
First up is the geared option, old school 105 8 speed. Shifting is fantastic and very solid feeling. Wheels are campag but no issues with indexing at all.
Next up is the path racer, fixed/free running 43/16. Ideally would love to tour on this but ultimately it’s about how fit I am when the date arrives. 25s because I’d like to fit mudguards when time and money allows.

from PX on special I think?
Quite likely. I bought a drawer full when they were clearing them.

I rode my dad's 1970s Holdsworth for a while. Really liked it, so much so that I gave it back because I didn't want to wreck it by commuting in the road salt and rain.
That's a lovely pair you've got there (ooh matron), how old are they?

I’ve got some very skinny gumwalls you can have for free.

PM’d.
Everyone else - thanks very much.

Thanks man, the road bike is 1984 and the path racer is (most likely) 1982 going by bb stamp.

Blimey, that's been in the wars! Good work with the rust off.
-
• #119511
is the geared one @tommmmmmm old one? The path racer looks fantastic, just needs a matching tyre and some nice stainless mudguards.
-
• #119512
Ahhh so it was you that got the stock. I only got two pairs I think, because there were none left. I’d love to have spare sets, they are excellent.

I’d love to have spare sets
I've probably got more than I need as I only use them on my TT bike. Are you after 22 or 24, or a mixture?
-
• #119514
Actually, opinions on guards welcome. I was thinking pdw, the dark grey ones.
Would have loved to be more matchy with the tyres, but these are mostly unused and were laying around so they’re on. I’ll get another panaracer when I can justify it.

• #119516
Depends what you can spare, I’d prefer 24’s but down to what you’re happy to shift.

Long shot, but anyone maybe knows the correct seatpost diameter of a 1992 Diamond Back Axis? Not the Pro version. Double butted True Temper OX tubing.
Bike is on the 10th page on the catalog:
http://www.rideandrepair.co.uk/Retrobike/DiamondBack92_Catalogue_RB.pdf
The frameset is on its way to me, so I can't really measure anything rn.Edit: probably 30 mm.

Thanks 653 bro

I’m not sold on putting more silver on the bike, I don’t want it ending up gaudy.
That seatpost has got to go though, it’s hideous.

Any ideas for a 20mm tyre? I’d wanted to put gumwalls on this but now looks unlikely.
Veloflex Master 22 for tanwall + minimal clearances? Available from Acycles. Not exactly the world's most sturdy tyre, but it'd look good.

Veloflex Master 22...Available from Acycles
23 only unless you know the secret page where they're hiding the 22s
-
• #119522
They size up big, buy different tyres.
Clement Strada 120tpi size up true to size (that’s what I’ve has to use on my road bike) also panaracers tend to come up true to size.

There's no "add to basket" button on that old page, because there's no stock :)

I have a Nitto M106 nas that doesn't fit the DA7400 stem, maybe I'll get a Nitto Dynamic stem and try it with that, but for now its ok. Thanks!
GP4000S2 comes in 20mm. If you want something cheaper, I've got some spare NOS 700x22 Vittoria Diamante Pro Radiale which come up slightly under nominal size.
