Nice hp. Is the first lakeside!?

So my EOS 300 is waiting for me at the post office. Haven't got the cash to buy a lens till pay day. Any reason I can't use my girlfriend's 18-55mm that came with her 70D? My camera is EF, I believe her lens is EF-S. Can't tell whether that matters. #noob

Yeah you can't use EF-S on EF bodies. Check out the 50mm f/1.8, 28mm f/2.8, 24mm f/2.8 lenses as well, I think they'll be cheaper than the 40mm. I'd guess that you can get the 50mm f/1.8 for £50 if you keep a close eye on eBay.

And as noted up thread it seems to be cheaper to buy a camera with lens attached! So keep an eye on those too and resell the body (or keep it like I have for some reason).

Edit: Do you live in London? I'm sure there's some kind person down there who could lend you a lens for a trip.
