  • thanks for the info man, pure gold!

When I was last in Berlin visiting I saw a couple of dudes going round Tempelhofer-it looked a bit bleak (well, winter in Berlin...) so Muggelsee sounds more appealing.

What do you think about living further out towards/past Johanistal/Adlershof/Grunau? I'm from Glasgow so most everywhere I've been in Europe feels clean, green and safe by comparison, but I don't seek out living in problem areas or shitty bits of town either if you know what I mean. Might be easier if you would be so kind as to tell me where I definitely wouldn't want to be-I'm studying a lot and still recovering from long term illness so don't mind being somewhere quiet/less fashionable.

€650 Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany Rent 2 rooms: ARTLOVERS!!!2 beauty
rooms in the heart of Kreuzberg36

Hello guys, we are .•°*”˜AT HOME˜”*°•. aka Chris,Antonio&Jah.
    musicians, artists,upcyclers, world travellers,creative living simple&
beauty survivors, best friends. After years of travelling we finally
found & created our magical home base, space & place: " the Busch" in
the heart of Berlin Kreuzberg 36 which we are looking forward to share
    with you guys.

area: Our arty Berlin downtown apartment .•°*”˜At Home˜”*°•. is
located in the heart of Kreuzberg 36. The district Kreuzberg is known
since the ´60 for its alternative influences and multi-cultural
population, nowadays multicultural mixed with all kinds of
interesting, lovely sharing people, artists, musicians & hipsters from
    all over the world.

Fuck me. I hate flathunting at the best of times but this is unbearable.

  • Hahaha. Fuck. But if its 650 for 2 rooms thats cheap...if its for one I guess thats a normal price by now. And Chris,Antonio&Jah are maybe the reason Adlershof is preferable to Kreuzberg. In general a lot of the newer inhabitants of Neukölln come across like Idiots. But then to a lot of people I am probably one of them.
The FB group called Berlin Apartments is full of arty people subletting their flats all the time.

Adlershof is good because it has the sBahn and very fast access to good riding. Kiefholzstrasse I mentioned is going through there.
Friend of mine just moved to Oberschöneweide, he likes it and says the locals are way friendlier than they look.
We don't have real problem areas (unless you believe the arab family clans and no go areas bullshit) but shitty we have. Some further out parts of Neukölln and Wedding, Lichtenberg and Reinickendorf are just bleak. And Marzahn and Gropiusstadt are a bit special with their high rises.
I quite like Wilmersdorf. Rather posh but also pretty normal parts. And of course Schöneberg.

There is something like a curved corridor under the spree from Charlottenburg all the way to Treptow thats good in my opinion. I also prefer the south to the north. So basically former west where not almost everything from before 90 is gone by now.
And realistically I would take anything that suits your needs and is affordable and not actually in Brandenburg. We get about 40000 new Berliners every year and only 4000 apartments get built...
Guess its clear by now that I like the city and talking about it.

  • Hey Berliners!
We're driving to Berlin to play a polo tournament in August, will we be ok finding a residential street to leave our car on south of tempelhof for a few days? The air BnB we have is inside the green zone and our car isn't green enough to go in.

  • Generally parking is free and chaotic here, as long as you don't park completely illegal you'll be fine. As there are very little no parking zones it's not that bad to find a spot.
(All that needs to change because having a car is way to cheap and easy but that's another topic.)
As for the green thing, I have friends that drove their very crusty vw T3 with polish plates all over the centre for a long time (2 years?) before they finally got stopped but then the fun was over.
There's no cameras or stuff to enforce the zone at all.

  • Thanks! I guess we can chance it and then play the ignorant tourist card...
