Definitely easier to comprehend!

I did consider if it was worth it for ultra racing bike. But I concluded that at 15mph it’s not going to be huge savings.
I always assumed that was what the full frame bag was for.

Is there a go to BTA mount?
If you can find one, the Zipp Vuka is good: rigid with plenty of adjustment.
The Velcro ones are a bit shit in my experience: they don't stand up to bottles being removed and replaced.

I like the Chris king(?) top cap mounted thing. I use it with xlab cages and it seems to works well. My forearms are slightly too close for a bottle mounted on the extensions.

Yeah, the Zipp one looked good, but with my setup, I wouldn’t be able to take the bottle out ‘backwards’ so it doesn’t really add anything. I’m currently thinking of using a side entry cage.

No that's convenience.

I have a Zipp Vuka mount you’re welcome to borrow, You can change the bottle mount on it, I have a profile design one on ther at the moment, which as a straw you can drink from without moving...

I’m in Maidenhead but work slightly closer to London in denham, in terms of rear cages, xlab gorilla are the way to go, not cheap but strong as hell..
Talking of which I need to get hold of the cervelo p series adapter for a water bottle for a half ironman I’m doing in a few weeks... oh and stop drinking...

I'd be interested in some 12h advice too. I've entered the Nationals, and I've never done a 12 before. In at the deep end and all that. Likelihood of getting a ride might be a useful starting point.

Pretty high. National got just over 90 entries last year on a course which BAR contenders would probably favour over the H12H

Sonic Wing? I should have one in one of my parts bins.

I did the Bentley 12 the first two years it ran (2014&5) unsupported and used the official food station.
It worked well. The first year was better as they had my stuff on a table. The second year I had to bend down to pick it up.
My strategy is to carry more bottles to minimise stopped time. So I carried 4litres aiming for one stop.
I'd do the same again if I rode it again -

King Cage. I had one, it worked
I use one and like it.
Mine did come loose after about 11 hours, so I ripped it of and threw it onto the verge. When I went back for it someone had nicked it so I got another one! -

Good to know. My 100m PB is tolerably respectable, so I had hoped that might help. Time to fit that second bottle cage and top tube nomnom bag.

I only used the official feed zone once to grab some flapjack. Not sure why, I might have dropped a gel that lap. Sounds like it should be fine though.
That's what I did, drink a bottle per lap + one spare for when you drop one (you will). Test your bottle setup well in advance - I found Specialized Purists stayed in my holders (Elite) better than any other. Still lost four from my BTA mount though, mostly in the runup to roundabouts where I was sat up.
I had a one of these which fits about 4 gels, plus 2 up each skinsuit leg. I stopped for 2 minutes or so around 4 and 8 hours to completely refill food, easier than faffing around with gels taped to bottles IMO but obviously you lose a few miles. Gives you the opportunity to grab some normal food to which you'll probably want after a while.

More importantly, what am I supposed to do for 10 hours, how hard is handing up bottles, and at what time am I allowed to get on it sitting outside the Hen and Chickens waiting for my diesel powered brother to come around every hour?
-
• #17721
Pace yourself, a pint an hour should be entirely feasible. :)
-
• #17722
Practice doing bottles. You'll need to run.
-
• #17723
Practice is a good point. Bottle hand ups can be slow. Possibly worth slowing down so easier to grap.
Can use musettes to, to deliver food, if you don't want to stop.
I wonder if putting some gorilla tape, or grip tape around your bottles would help keep them secure in the cage. Worth trying, as that course is notorious for shooting bottles.

Wowsers.
Of course I'm off riding audaxes when I could've been doing my 49.
It might be more relevant than mine!
