I could legitimately have a bike at my parent's. If I brought it down to London for a single weekend a year and crashed and they told me it was invalid, that'd be pretty shady.
Anyway, I'm just gonna add on my locks, try keep it parked off road, pay it and hope it comes down next year.

YouTube maybe?

Communication with them has been spot on. Couple hours wait at most via email, haven't tried phone. They have more of a presence on facebook than anything else it seems.
I know mufflers are more aesthetic than performance related and when it comes to that, certain brands dominate more than others.
Quality wise is what impressed me the most. I'm by the sea but not a thing has shown signs of rusting yet. Fasteners are all high quality stainless. The welds are smooth and uniform down to the baffle, and the carbon weave is solid. The whole pipe is light but has a decent heft and solidity to it.@PQR It sounds better than the Scorpion I had with the baffle in. Without, the Scorpion sounded cleaner.

4i (2001)
My car was waiting for some tyres so I rode it to work yesterday morning and had a chance to (semi) open it up on a clear bit of NSL road. Nowhere near redline or pinned throttle but it sounded great and went like a rocket. Ruined things by going round the hairpin like a grandma but I’m still getting used to the clutch, which seems a bit on/off.

I'm in the midlands this weekend unfortunately so I'd be out. Following saturday is a possibility perhaps
-
• #11760
I will also be in the Midlands on Saturday (not on the bike though).
Following Saturday, I will be in Antigua so I'm probably out then :).I'm back on the weekend of May 26th...

My bike is already in the midlands so I will very much be on it :)

Cheers! Thanks for all the advice everyone.
@dramatic_hammer kindly gave me a theory test training book.
Happy to post it on to the next person on this thread who needs it. -

I think number 2. is the one I would go for but what i'm really after is some kind of idea of the db increase between stock and that exhaust w/ baffle in.
I've heard plenty of the MT09 Akra exhausts etc in person but it's impossible to tell from a youtube video what the difference is.
Maybe i'll just have to bite the bullet.

I’d say you need to make your own mind up about how likely it is you get busted for it and how willing you are to take that risk but I’m of the opinion thatinsurers are cunts and you should do everything in your power to give them less money.
I have a colleague who’s car is insured in Inverness but parked in Glasgow. He seems to get away with it...

Yeah that's gonna be a bitch. Mine (phone app) does hit 110db at around 8k. obviously entirely different config though.
For the price though, I'm very happy.

I bought a new rear shock for my GSXR. $15 inc delivery off fleabay! It's actually a Showa from an 05 750 which are apparently interchangeable but have better rebound adjustment.
I'm going to play around disassembling it and maybe stick in a straight weight spring and racetech gold valve. Never rebuilt a shock before but aside from having to get it pumped up with Nitrogen afterwards, it looks relatively straightforward.
If it works, should be most of the way to a good aftermarket unit for minimal bucks. Can't be spending proper money on my old shed, despite the lure of ohlins gold. Fingers crossed!

Yusss. That sounds like a bargain for mucho performance.
Doing the same at the moment and just sourced a zx10r shock that should fit into my bike without any modding. First shock I bought was re-sprung with a stiffer spring so just sold it.
Always thought it was a difficult job getting it re-pumped.Is it a SRAD?
-
• #11773
Nope - it's a K5 1000. I've always shied away from shocks because of the gas too but it actually looks simple enough. You just need to take it somewhere with a N tank afterwards to pressurise it. They're mostly full of oil, there's only a tiny bit of diaphragm with any gas in.
Should run me about $275 with the spring and the valve and will make a massive difference. Hell even a straight rebuild will make a big difference as the shock on there has 50k on it! -

Batteries. The bane of my life.
Guzzi is playing up, and someone has suggested fitting a lithium-ion battery which has a much better charge life. Anyone got one?
I specifically need to know how they deal with the small drain of an alarm. No point shelling out for an expensive battery (and a new charger, probably) if the datatool alarm will knacker it. -
• #11775
Take the alarm off. They are shit and the only person they ever stop riding the bike is you.
London. Don’t think that really matters though does it? It’s got to be where the bike is kept over night. Just pains me to get fire and theft cover for £600 with a £1375 excess on a £1900 bike. It’s literally not worth having. Third party only bizarrely is £900 for the year
