Anyone on HUEL?

  • Excellent, I'll order a bag of the coffee one next time. Dumped a whole bialetti into mine today.

  • Coffee + Huel, here's my recipe:
Two scoops Vanilla Huel, one scoop Unflavored in 400 ml water. Then I pour the espresso, and top up with hot water.
For a reason that I can't explain, I find it more "creamy" that way.

    EDIT: Nevermind - I didn't realise there were a new flavour -_-

  • Just tried 3x huel 1x vegan blend (myprotein)
Pretty weird/thick/dry but was okay. More protein than my body knows what to do with

  • Been back on Huel for a week now, Why do my burps taste like cod liver oil?

  • I've run out of (old) vanilla.
    Is the new one better?
Was thinking 1 (new) Vanilla 1 coffee for the next order.

  • Hmmm, I don't rate the new vanilla, wish I'd stuck with old to be honest

  • I think new vanilla is pretty good. Though I can't really taste the difference

  • Something like a year later since my last time I asked, what is the current verdict?

Thinking it's about time to bite the bullet and make this my weekday work meal.

  • I'm going back on it. I'm spending about £7 a day on food plus my main at night. I can never get my arse in gear in the morning to make something, so thinking sandwich for lunch £2 and huel either side. I'll eat better and save about £3 - £4 a day, which on my salary counts... I might even make the sandwiches myself which will save another wodge.

  • Anyone fancy doing me a massive favour and taking 2 bags of 2.3 Gluten Free off my hands? Let a subscription overrun and missed the return window and can't be arsed with eBay.

    £40?

Might be able to deliver if you're central.

    EDIT: Sold

  • I'm still on it, and enjoying it. Breakfast and lunch every weekday. Found it really helpful for controlling my weight and getting enough vegetarian protein into my diet cheaply.

  • Saw this thread and am looking at shaking my diet up with regards to weight loss. I'm trying gym three times a week followed by a protein shake for recovery. I did OK at first but I'm utterly lazy when it comes to cooking/lunch at work. Do you think I could use this as a midday meal and have a normal evening meal?

I tried stuff like slim fast a few years back and was just hungry all the time. Does this fill you?

  • Yeah, it’s filling as long as you use enough... I wouldn’t look at it as something like slimfast though - you could just as much use it for bulking.

Most people use it to replace lunch, as it’s quicker, cheaper and healthier than many of the other options. You’ll probably start craving real food if you start replacing your dinner with it as well but sure, every now and then. It's really just quick and easy access to balanced nutrients rather than some diet thing.

In terms of weight loss, you could loose weight eating donuts and burgers so long as you're consuming less than you burn.

Given it's macro split, it does complement heavy exercise very well so if you're hitting the gym a few times a week and eating this stuff at a slight deficit, you'll be shredded pretty fast.

  • Another ten quid off referral link if anyone wants it, and I save a few groats too. Boom Click

Since I've been on the ales again of late time I bagged 2 of vanilla new recipe (dunno...) and two coffee ones.

  • Thanks @dogu for my saving, you can also get a tenner off your first purchase by clicking here for Doug's link... so theres a bump back for you mate.

  • Right now my gaseous emissions would rival novichok, have to say coffee huels good. I used to add a bit of semi skimmed to the standard vanilla for a smoother taste but this doesn't need it, as if anything it ended up a little too rich.

  • Tried it for a while, then started lifting weights so shifted to protein shake supplementation mixed with either fat (almond butter) or carbs (pinhead oats) depending on the cycle. As an exclusive meal alternative I would worry about its effect on the the old microbiome, which by all accounts benefits from diversity.

  • That would figure as apart from a whole section on huel poop on the huel forum a guy said lob the occasional sacrificial Macdonalds down there and all hell breaks loose!

  • First time I tried that new improved vanilla, tastes a bit like melted Mr Whippy or a Maccy D's vanilla shake. Not bad actually. Bit rich but makes you savour it rather than necking it in one go and having a kids party sick episode. Been back on it a full week now and feel great and sleep well, this could of course all be in my mind. My main reason for going on it was I always felt my diets pretty awful despite attempts to the contrary, and at 51 decided some running repairs were necessary, plus saving money and being a mug buying takeaways and sandwiches far too much.

  • Just tried the coffee version. It's basically fine.

Seems to be normal with added instant, which is what I was doing anyway.

  • Is new vanilla less sweet than old vanilla?

  • For me it's much sweeter

  • I`ve now started doing a cold brew the day before and then using that with the vanilla. Pretty good. They didnt have the coffee one when i most recently bought again and this was my solution.

I cant tell the difference between old and new vanilla (havent done a side-by-side or anything though)

  • I really don't like the new version as it tastes much sweeter to me, but n=1

  • Todays lunch: 1x vanilla huel, 2x myprotein vegan chocolate blend, 1x coffee

    Was okay, pretty full now
