As you can see from the link you posted, 8 speed parts are no longer available and any shifters are getting on for twenty years old now.
If you can pick up a pair of shifters cheap enough, then that will buy you some time, but the spring mount rings are on borrowed time and once they go, the shifter is toast.
If I was in your position, I'd see this incident as being Fate's way of telling you to move on to at least 9 speed, although 10 is probably better value for money.

I have two sets of record 8 speed ergopower levers in my shed that have had little to no use and I sold a set on here a while back for not too much money. I believe there are lots out there.

I crashed and smashed the right brake lever of an 8-speed Chorus group. Anything that could be transplanted would be great.
Had a look at Campagnolo Service Centre but they're closed for holidays, apparently.
