Me and @andyp I believe. You're in the countryside after 15mins riding, racing at Palace (on my doorstep) and HHV also within 15 mins. Kent House 19mins to Victoria. It's pretty decent and close enough to Croydon to get there easily (17mins on tram for me) but far enough away so you have a healthy distance from Croydon!

Yes the 20 min train ride to Victoria is helping me sell the 3rd move in 3 years to the partner.
I know the riding that way, coming from Streatham is ride out that way.
What’s the ‘town’ like itself. Much decent to eat and drink?
My plan is I can cycle to/from work and then throw on 2-3 hours on the way in/home training. Which means I can keep fit. Living in Chelmsford that’ll be impossible with a 1h motorbike commute.

Yep, have been in Beckenham for the past ten years.
As @Currid says, lots of good cycling opportunities with HHV and Palace, plus you’re in the lanes in 15 mins.
Public transport is great, with lines into Victoria and London Bridge/Charing Cross plus trams to Croydon and the Overground at Penge.
It is very family oriented I think, lots of young families around with all that entails. Is not everyone’s cup of tea.
Ok. Anyone in Beckenham?
Which is London, so kind of wrong thread. Never mind.
