Put full mudguards on all your bikes then you never have to clean them.

London is a big place, how can you be sure it's local to all the local people all the time?

Are we talking detailing vintage/exotic bikes ready for the concours or cleaning some dank, post-winter skeff off a beater?
I imagine anyone who cares enough to notice their bike is dirty would do it themselves?

Not riding the the ditches daily that pass for roads in Oxfordshite :)

I pay to get my car cleaned every now and then (£10).
so far, I've never paid to get my bike cleaned but I wouldn't completely rule it out.

Ye...but im lazy + no time. And really can't be arsed buying the pressure jet and other cleaning stuff. hassle
-
• #13
they're charge £3 for a basic wash. and about a tenner for full detailing which includes things like chain clean, chain lube, full bike wax to make it shine etc etc.
-
• #14
Keep pressure jets away from your bike. They'll fuck your bearings and make shit of your paint.
-
• #15
I'd do it myself, but im just too lazy and have no time. plus I dont want to spend £££ of pressure washer, cleaning products and what not. They said they've even add special wax to give it a shine. hmmmmm really considering it!
and sorry yes - to answer your question, I think they're targeting ordinary commuters with standard road bikes.

Cleaning bikes?
Nah mate -
• #17
Totally agree mate. I think they're charging about a tenner, so think MAYBE its reasonable for what im getting? :S

Seems rather cheap... it would take me about two hours to do a full on clean and polish.

The opening post here makes no sense to me. Are you saying you’ve found somewhere offering to clean your bike and you want to check if it’s good value?
I generally keep my bikes pretty clean but if I had a nice one that I’d badly neglected I could see the appeal of having it professionally spruced, and preferably serviced at the same time. The price would depend on the extent of the work I guess? Shiny would be a given no?!

Sounds like someone doing market research. Which is fair enough. But would I pay someone to quickly pressure wash dirt and grease into every single bearing on my bike for me?
No. And for £3 I wouldn't expect much more than that to be done to it.
Chain cleaning is not "detailing" either. It's a filthy job and pointless if not done properly-doing it half assed then squirting lube all over it to compensate just makes a nice new medium for making new gritty sludge. There's a reason why bike shops have fixed service plans...

GCN did a video where they pressure washed BB bearings for 10 minutes straight with no apparent effect.

It's your wheel bearings you need to worry about. Next to chain/penetrating oil on chain and mechs, crap from rim brakes. I saw plenty of people 'cleaning' their cassettes and chains with WD40, washing then coming in wondering why their rear hub sounded utterly fucked the next day...

this is such a lie. I've got full mudguards with great coverage and my bike still gets pretty dirty on a wet day. Roads round here are pretty filthy but still

only one thing to solve your issue sell your bike

I just wanted to know if you would pay to get your bike cleaned;
Why? If you're struggling to make your mind up, just flip a coin.
And who is this "local business"?
Hi - am new here.
In london, there's a local business offering bike cleaning services.
I just wanted to know if you would pay to get your bike cleaned; and what would be a reasonable price?
They're even offering to lube the chains up; and make the bike shiney.
Thanks
