• Fitted 28mm Panaracer Gravel Kings (smooth tubed version) to DT R500 rims yesterday. Two wraps of 25mm Tesa 4289, Hutchinson valves, Stans Race sealant. Went on with minimal swearing, inflated first time with my track pump and other than minimal sealant leakage through the tread of one tyre, seemed to seal just fine. Will check if they're still up tonight.

Very impressed with the Gravel Kings in general. Have used the 32mm smooth (on Stans A340) and 43mm SK (on Stans Crest) versions as well - they're light-ish, fast enough, plenty grippy and don't cost loads.

  • Are the non TLC gravel kings ok for tubeless? I'm nervous about the higher pressures needed on skinnier rubber. I'd like to run a 26c front 28c rear on a bike with tight fork clearance, and ideally set them up tubeless, but i'm concerned the 70 or so psi needed will be pushing it.

  • I've been using the 32mm non-TLC GKs on Crests at 45 psi for 8 months with no issues. I'll try the 28s at 50-55 psi to start with and see what happens. As far as I could tell they have a reasonable bead (though not the same square section bead as on the TLC 43 SKs) and were a fairly tight fit on the rims.

  • Tried all tricks on the 26c and kinlin xr31t rims+ double stans tape+schwalbe sealant can't get them inflated even a bit, Ymmv though.
