  • Thanks, too much fun with coffee!

  • Yes, UTFS, JFGI, etc, but when extraction times using an espresso machine are mentioned, is this times from the moment the espresso pours, or from when the brew switch is pressed.

    Errrr, asking for a friend.

  • From when you hit the brew button. The time between pressing the button and the espresso emerging is all part of the brewing.

  • Mr Black cold brew coffee liqueur.

    I can confirm its delicious.

  • Has anyone come across a receptacle for ground coffee that fits inside the plunger of an aeropress? Would be good for carrying a small amount for bikepacking etc.

  • A film canister perhaps?

  • Bit small I reckon but you're thinking along the right lines. I'll have to keep my eyes open to potential containers.

  • Just use a keep cup? or a similar resusable coffee cup with a lid?

  • This is what I usually do but a solid container seems like it would make for less mess/ neater packing and just make sense to easily fill the dead space.

  • Electrolyte tab tube?

  • Keep, maybe also in Ziploc in a porlex grinder which fits perfectly?

  • This is my setup at home. Grinding beans from Ozone at the present.

  • Right now I just throw ice cubes into filtered coffee for a cold beverage. It’s fine but I have the feeling that I’m missing out something.
Are there any must-try methods for cold coffee?

  • Slow seep overnight in a fridge.
We have one of these and it's lovely though I'm sure you can make one easily

  • Coldbrew is pretty damn good. Loads of recipes out there, I'm no expert so I just combine some water and some coffee in a cafetiere then leave in fridge overnight. Strain it like the cafetiere method earlier in this thread et voila. Lots of flavour with way less acidity than hot stuff.

  • As above. I normally use around 4.5:1 coffee:water ratio. Let it brew for 12 hours at room temp. Filter it with a french press then stick it in the fridge to cool.

  • Thanks guys, just had my first cold brew experience.
Should be about 60g coarse ground coffee and about 800ml water. 60g and 500ml was planned at first but then I realized that I can't fit both in a 500ml bottle, hah.
Also the Hario Mini Mill is no use for coarse grinding.

  • I always try to have a spare 2L plastic bottle kicking around for such occasions!

  • Take your cold brew and stick it in a cream whipper for awesome home made nitro coffee. More fun when combined with vodka and kahlua pre-whipping.

  • Wow I feel like I need to get one now! Not sure the GF is going to be pleased with one more coffee gadget though

  • Oh...

Now that's a thought I never had, I'm quite looking forward to this!

  • Nalgene make a huge range of sizes, something should fit.

  • Haha, I need a proper grinder first. The Hario mentioned before is missing half of its bowl.
Speaking of, are there any recommendable hand mills for around 50€?
