  • Would you punch him if you meet him?

  • I really fucking hate this forum sometimes.

  • I acknowledge Mr Hell’s honesty and contrition. Yes he fucked up, but has owned it, not tried to defend or justify himself and expressed a desire to do something to change his behaviour.

  • If you get grief every single commute it can build up and you snap at the wrong person.

  • Possibly. Still no reason to react as shabbily as I did on this occasion. I'm not the victim here. Can do better.

  • The sun still rises, the world goes round. Let’s move on shall we

  • Yup.

  • To the old, fat, fully lycra'd up man who overtook me whilst filtering, only to have cut me up because there was no space for him...that was a dick move, it was also a dick move when you did it 3 more times to people in front of me.

Then he snotted right into my path getting some of your old man mucus on my legs.

I think I'd rather be punched than snotted on. Made me feel sick for the rest of the commute.

  • Good to hear that RPM is still about.

  • now that i re-read it, it does sound like what i think you think it sounded like. no hard feelings boss.

  • If @Brave was here, he'd have thrown a KidneyPunch™, AND YOU WOULD ALL HAVE LOVED HIM FOR IT

  • yeah but he's got looks.

  • Am I the bad cyclist? Went to RLJ across a one way street, rolling and looking left for traffic. No cars and no peds crossing.

As I commit to crossing the red light some nodder on a 10 ton commuter bike comes flying in front of me from the pavement on the right side where I wasn't looking, presumably heading to the contraflow bike lane another block over. She swerved and called me an asshole. I continued on my commute wondering whose actions were more unlawful.

  • You're both plums putting yourself in plums way.

  • NPF

  • "asshole"? "another block over"? Where was this? Peoria, Illinois?

You know what you did was wrong. It's an example of bad cycling. Her too.

  • Vancouver, BC but close enough.

  • Last night some dude on Portland/Blandford st got cut up by a white van and completely lost his shit at the guy. It was a full bore, spittle flying, belligerent rant. He was right, but I thought it mightily ironic because a little while back he overtook me when we were both turning right and essentially cut across my front wheel causing me to have to stop in the middle of a junction and the single file bunch of cyclists behind me to all bunch up and dodge each other! I wanted to catch up with him to point out the irony but couldn't catch him in his 'post-shout-at-driver-power-cycle'!!

  • Lower Marsh Street this lunchtime.

Dude attempting to operate his cycle by placing right foot onto the end of his drops.

Potentially interesting trick cyclist manouvre, however unsuccessful on this occasion.

  • Filtering behind a fixed gear rider on the approach to Temple Meads. Roadworks on the left makes the lanes narrow, the lights are red so traffic stationary. Just before the lights is one of those bigger-than-mini-buses-but-not-proper-bus with fat sides. He attempts the filter, I might have followed but the lights changing and I was turning left into TM so I pulled in behind the Notbusbutbus. It was a chubby one and I glance and he clips the wing mirror of it with his shoulder and knocked it out of place. It’s not moving despite the green light. I’m stuck behind it and have 5 mins to make my train, thinking he’s smashed the mirror properly, pick up the bike under and me and angle it to go around the stationary Notbusbutabus and it fucking moves off. Re-angle and push off and turn left and get punishment passed by the 4v4 behind me. Made the train.

I didn’t see but immediately after hitting the wing mirror the cyclist was cycling away. I hope he stopped and flagged the Notbus and checked he hadn’t properly smashed the wing mirror. If you did, mistake filtering there, bit gung ho but at least you fronted to the mistake. If you didn’t very shitty move and one every one behind saw and was disadvantaged by, and did nothing to help the rep of cyclist.

  • This. And ‘riderz’ who leave their dead inner tube, post puncture, in the lanes (round here). Who’s job is it to pick them up, the fucking inner tube fairy? Put the dead one in you fucking pocket til you see a bin. Grr. Huf, puf.

  • Hold onto it unless you need to patch one later in the ride, more like!

  • I did pick one up the other day and have repaired it, so free tube not to be sniffed at, suppose.
