  • yea I was thinking that too. I was being stingy as it was originally the rear tire which I swapped to the front and visa versa. Not sure if one can buy them anymore, so maybe will upgrade to some marathon plus' as I hear good things about them.

  • Hyde Park Corner, Buck Palace, The Mall, Trafalgar Square. Mental this morning

    Empirical problems/10

  • Noice. Left house at 09:13 and was at desk for 09:45 and it was much simpler today despite similar timings #flexibleworking

Although, still a cluster fuck at the left turn from Baylis Road onto Waterloo Road (Old Vic on your 1'o'clock), might start rolling through and going onto Q1 down Cornwall Road and get onto the bridge that way, although it means you miss the sweeeeeet run-up from the IMAX but you do miss out all the mental behaviour beforehand.

  • My favourite two comic strip panels.

  • Having used Marathon Plus and Marathon Supreme, I'd recommend the supreme unless you're constantly riding somewhere where the roads are full of sharp things. They're still very puncture resistant but feel much nicer and are considerably lighter.

  • Bus wanker update: in a very rare conflict-avoiding action, hippy has actually found an alternative route to the bus wanker route that is about the same distance, has much smoother tarmac and actually avoids a time-consuming traffic light. hippy is currently reprogramming his commuting habits to this new route and now pondering what other changes could be made positive in his life if "yelling at it" and "kicking it" were removed as the first and second line responses to every situation that ever presents itself to him. Stay tuned for more news after these messages...

  • smoother tarmac

That reminds me, they've actually sorted the surface of Patmos Road/Lothian Road so riding round that corner is less like going rockpooling. Much easier to take an assertive position now.

The cherry on the top of this morning's ride.

  • Well I still had an argument with a bunch of dudes in a van so yeah the ol' me returned in about 10min after my bus detour.

"Yeah, I could move left but in case you didn't notice I was drafting the car and now you and me are both delayed while we argue about me not moving over, happy now dickhead?"

  • great commute in this morning, took the long way into work, via half of richmond park, waited for deer to cross the road, and swanned in half an hour late, but suitably zen.
    Would do again..

  • I have a pair of boxed foldable supremes going cheap I think, £30 for the pair? I haven't looked at prices recently so that might be a steal/rip off...

  • Cheers for the advice, I'll give them a go. Basically I'm commuting in and about london, so the usual (and I swear deliberate) glass all over the cycle lanes etc.

    Daaaaam they are $£$£$£$

  • I like the sun but I dislike all the people.

  • Uhm but if you are a drafting a car how can you slow them down?

Unless it was on a dual carriageway, 60mph is a touch tricky.

  • No, it was the van behind me beeping and yelling at me to move over. Obviously I took issue with this as I was moving at the same speed as the car in front of me (does he beep and yell at all the cars to get out of his way?) and I'm legally allowed to be there. Queue lots of "do u even fucking traffic code bro?!" and me stopping in front of them to make a point that if they'd just shut the fuck up, both of us would've been a kay down the road already.

  • I like the sun but I dislike all people.

  • I dislike all people.

Why complicate things with the sun?

  • Having used tubeless tyres I would say just go tubeless and never look back.

  • Unless shoulder checking..

  • Only one driver was a twat today. 9 miles, one bellend.

  • Sauntering past slow moving traffic in South Woodford, out of nowhere I get a bad feeling about a particular white Mercedes 2 or 3 cars ahead. I slowed right down and sure enough it dramatically cut left down a side road without indicating

I hope this sixth sense stays with me forever

  • To be fair, you should always have a bad feeling about a white Mercedes.

  • That was probably it

  • This morning I did the thing where I took the slightly earlier train that goes slightly faster and skips my usual train station. I took the opportunity to get off at Palo Alto station and ride the 25 minutes to work. Beautiful morning, pleasant bike-friendly roads with traffic blocks and cetera. Apparently silicon valley richies are into smooth pavement and bikable tree-lined streets. Arrived a little early and a little happier.

Also re last page: Now that I am older I like the sun and, often, people. It is funny because in my twenties both were violently untrue.
