Depends on if I think it's good enough.
Thanks all, seems element (large version) is the right choice.
- Why name both element, just confusion wahoo!

Bear in mind there's no on-the-fly routing if you don't have a network connection on phone/element. This includes loading on a gpx that has been generated elsewhere, still need a data connection to do that.

Can you save .gpx to your phone, and then upload to wahoo? via bluetooth, no network.
Do you have a wahoo app, that you upload from, does that import .gpx or do you make the .gpx in the wahoo app.Can I upload from ridewithgps?
I very rarley re route on the fly, and if so, I normally use google maps to do so. As someone point out, so wahoo maps would properly be fine.

I import my files from ridewithgps, the app bridges between this and the unit.

Great.

Clear?

Yeah seems simple, what I need. Thanks

My only frustration with this methodology, and perhaps someone else can help here, is there appears no way to plan a route quickly pertinent to your type of bike... say avoiding gravel/ or woodland trails etc.

No

You can do either, import a gpx or make a route in the app

It syncs automatically with RWGPS (if you have network)

In my experience it all works well unless there is no data connection and then it can't do anything apart from what is already on the unit.

Yes, 1 hour more battery time on Elemnt.

That is a bit of a let down needing data. I should be able to save gpx on my phones hardrve and upload them via Bluetooth. Data isn’t always available.

This.
Even transferring a gpx file from phone over bluetooth is impossible (for me).

This is extremely annoying. It will absolutely always put me on a cycle path or a trail over a road. Fine for getting somewhere in central London but not fine at all for a weekend ride out of the city where I don’t want to be going down bridleways on my 25c road bike. I’ve just accepted that I can’t route somewhere for a road ride using the wahoo app.

use Komoot

Yep, OSMAND is capable of generating offline GPX so assumed I'd be able to upload those to the wahoo as maps are already on there and there's a bluetooth connection but it wasn't possible.
I asked Wahoo support about it last summer and they said it wasn't possible, not sure if they are planning to implement it at some point.

Komoot looked pretty pricey for maps when I last looked at it.

520 Plus is more interesting..

Who wants all this extra trash functionality they keep adding?
Just make your products robust first, then add junk to it. -
• #972
why?
doesent it have the same maps/interface/garmin shite?
130 is brave from Garmin, it will purely depend on how good the app is but they have clearly addressed the threat from wahoo.

purchased a wahoo.
will report back with my thoughts in a few weeks.

Bloated code.
Which then requires stronger hardware to run which Garmin sells as an upgrade .. its a typical vicious Adobe style cycle that can easily happen in larger companies. -

I don't. I don't use most of the 1000's features.
But if the 520 is supposed to be more solid and now has maps...
Think the element has an extra set of lights over the bolt (they can show average pace or something, I've never taken much notice). Also has bigger battery and screen of course.
