  • ha yes the bottom bracket will be internal (octalink) so i guess facing is less critical right?

the headtube was cut with the tube cutting tool thing that turns around so i am guessing the cut it orthogonal with the axis of the headtube, in any case i could test it with a 90° L shaped tool of some sort... I will try that for starters and see if it works out.. the problem is if the headtube is a bit ovalised.... (please let it be round!!!!)

    cutting tool was this type

  • red wine all over the tape kinda thing?

  • Can anyone recommend some drop levers for v brakes? I mainly ride on the hoods if that makes any difference....

  • drop levers for v brakes?

Have a look at DiaCompe 287V, DiaCompe Evo-V, Tektro RL520, Cane Creek Drop V

They will all work, but for my money none of them is a nice enough shape to be a comfort match for SRAM S500 etc., so I'd be looking at switching to mini-V or using a travel agent

  • Is there a forum-approved way of attaching mudguards and rack on the same eyelets besides keeping the rack close to the eyelets? Should I consider P-clips for the rack?

Won't carry heavy loads, so probably not existentially important, but thought if I do it I can do it properly...

  • I'd probably P-clip the mudguards to the rack tubes, but that's personal preference; any major reason you can't mount both to the same eyelet? If you've not got the rack yet, some racks have guard eyelets.

  • Thanks for the reply.. No I was gonna mount them on same eyelet, just wondering what the most stable way and practical was (in case of puncture etc). also I assumed there was a reason why some touring bikes have two sets of eyelets..

  • That means I have to buy brakes / travel agents as well as levers. I do like SRAM though...

  • What are like swrve shorts but aren't £65?

  • shorts from h&m?

  • wait, should I have done a height pun?

  • I dunno.
    Should you?

  • No, height puns are a tall order for this thread.

  • rapha ones.

  • Does anyone know a decent route from London to Sheffield? Cyclestreets and Strava are good but don't give much idea what the scenery/traffic will be like.

  • They're >£65.....

Which technically is correct, as it's <>65.
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT.

  • Soz.

    BUT IT WAS GREAT BANTS

pm Dov for a rapha code.

For real tho, I've been using dickies shorts for a while. last well. don't have the weird nocrotch stitching mind.

Giro shorts are nice if you can find the cotton ones.

    Levis commuter - meh.

  • muchos.

  • Can anyone recommend a commuting SPD shoe that I can wear off the bike without the cleats click-clacking on the floor please?

  • Does anyone know what's going on with Charge Bikes? Still no sign of their 2018 models.

  • Cheers. Looked at those, so the cleats are well recessed?

  • I had a pair of those and they did clack (might have got a bad pair, idk. I have heard other people be happy with them), also made it like you were walking like ice for a moment of the stride.

Only ones I've found that are properly recessed are DZRs and giro rumbles.

  • I love the rumbles, but I gotta say the cleats do scrape / grind a fair bit when I’m walking.

  • ah ok I was going on a friends review
