I did. Not sure I'd want to make a definitive stement on the longevity of it as a finish though as I haven't been using the bars, they have been in my slightly damp garage though and don't seem to have developed any corrosion.
I guess a rack is going to be subjected to a lot of rubbing and wearing so a more solid coating may be advisable?
