Why Hungary? Way better places to visit.

Hungary is nice man. Budapest got some great baths and the Donauradweg into Serbia is a dream

Never been and good reviews so far. Alt route goes Austria>Slovenia>Croatia>Bosnia>Montenegro> Albania>Greece.
Anywhere you'd recommend? I am touring not racing :)

Slovenia is beautiful.
Mostar in bosnia.
durmitor and kotor bay
Albania.
Ride the route into the finish we took last year, it's special.Hungary is nice, nothing wrong.

Yeah I know. Not taken that bike path so will take your word. I just preferred other places.

What did you think of Macedonia last year?
-
• #385
That route is very similar to mine after the start. Mine is just a bit more German before Salzburg.
Might be looking for tips.

Bosnia is the most amazing place, I love it there. Plus montenegro, Maededonia, albania.
If anyone wants route ideas (for touring there) happy to help. I've ridden there a bit now ;)

Parts are beautiful, I think the south west is nicest, near albanian border. North east is nice, but not as nice.

Get lunch here, it's really good for the money (£30 ish) and the view is to die for.

Do you have nice wiggly route through the Alps taking in all the big climbs that aren’t dead ends?
-
• #390
Macaedonia on the west is really nice on the Albanian border - it’s a national park if I remember correctly.

From where to where?

West ;)

France to Slovenia - the whole shabang

Hungary and Mac both sucked in terms of the race route but if you picked nice places to ride instead of quickest you'd obviously have a much nicer ride.
Montenegro is nice. Serbia was too. Bosnia and Kosovo although on main roads were not too bad. Romania was just mental. Slovakia was ok, Austria didn't do much for me.

Albania is very nice for touring apart from the main road on the coastal strip. All of Montenegro is stunning. Round lake ohrid in Macedonia is nice. I really enjoyed Bosnia during 2016 race. Croatia is ok, but can be a bit windy...

The Raid Dolomite route would be my suggestion, from memory;
Day 1: Thonon-les-Bains -> Sion
Day 2: Sion -> Domodossala
Day 3: Domodossala -> Bellinzona
Day 4: Bellinzona -> Chiavenna
Day 5: Chiavenna -> Bormio
Day 6: Bormio -> Merano
Day 7: Merano -> Val Gardena
Day 8: Val Gardena -> Cortina d'Ampezzo
Day 9: Cortina d'Ampezzo -> Vigo di Cadore
Day 10: Vigo di Cadore -> Udine
Day 11: Udine -> TriesteThat's approx 100 kms a day, but on average the climbing ranged between 3000-4500 metres a day.

Yeah avoid croatian coast, too busy and bit bland, head inland.
That said, hit the croatian islands for some fun!

Meh, stripped the Bowman down for a clean after the Man of Kent audax on the weekend and seems that there are two stress fractures that have developed on the chain stays where the dimples are for larger tyre clearance. Exactly the same place on each side. Looks deeper than paint but will take it to Bowman as they have conveniently moved to Hither Green. Disappointing given that I've only put 7000km on it. It was second hand though but have only just noticed these. Anyone else ever has anything similar. Currently weighing in at 66kg so not a huge unit.
Going to have to have a firesale of some of my other stuff to afford something new and it's tight financially here following birth of second child.
New frame would need to be 142 x 12 bolt through and imagine my budget would be somewhere round 600£ for a frame. What should I go for? -

Just looked at this on a map, that's pretty awesome route. That area is incredible.
Trying to find accommodation in Livigno for July this year!
If I send you my route, you can ride it in advance and offer some, errrrr, feedback :)
