See you all at the finish
Got a place volunteering :) :)

I'll have a neck rub and a sturdy thigh massage... oh, what do you mean it's not that kind of volunteering?
-
• #354
Actually, you'll see 50% of us, if the stats hold true!
-
• #355
I saw the pics of you finishing last year...
I could probably sort you out some greek beer and halloumi cheese fingers tho?
-
• #356
is that the forum finish rate? ptff.
-
• #357
Overall.
-
• #358
Is that consistently, year on year? Wow if so. Thought it would be higher than that.
-
• #359
I think a hose down and a bucket of ice cream would be best.

Don't worry, after 100% of hippy you wont want to see anyone else...

• #363
Brilliant info.

Ever? ;)

I'm sure some of the volunteers have made full recoveries and ventured back into normal society without too many hints of past traumas but it's entirely possible you will end up rocking back and forth, living in a bus shelter, squealing "the thighs! THE THIGHS!" at passers-by for the rest of your days.

I’ll see you all ;)
Start line for me. Then bombing to Budapest to see Anna’s family, dates worked out very well.

Hmm... no email, presuming rejection. Thinking I'll fly out to Innsbruck a couple of days before the start then cycle out to Slovenia at checkpoint 2 incorporating lots of nice climbs in the Alps. Then try and dash down to checkpoint 4 in Bosnia whilst you lot take the longer route via Poland.

Did you apply to volunteer last year also?
-
• #369
Yeah. I think they’re probably prioritising those who wouldn’t have to fly but I did say I’d happily cycle out to the start or checkpoint 1. Also, perhaps they’re giving it to people who haven’t done it to give them a chance / be nice to those who didn’t get a race position. Oh well, I’ll still have fun touring around the area and catching some of the action but it’d have been nice to get a couple of nights of accommodation and the t-shirt :p
Did your parents get a place?
-
• #370
Ah ok.
Yeah I believe so.
-
• #371

They did say that on the app form: assuming that’s a big reason I got my place
-
• #372
Oh nice are you cycling out there?
-
• #373
Yep. Ill be touring though. Setting off from London 3 weeks before the start of the race.
Come to Meteora! I'll buy you beers. Hippy said he's going to give me a massage - I am sure he could fit you in as well. -
• #374
You're in for a shock if you thought that's what's happening..
Also you're going to need more beers than you thought. Whatever you've bought, triple that, then buy 48x that.

Nice! What route are you taking?
I'm not sure I'll have the time but if I took a ferry across the Adriatic I could get it down to about 2400km. Although it'd be fairly unpleasant with 50% on flat Italian roads.
Okay, Cool. That's good to know.
