I like Sagan's gold bike.
There, I said it! -

Did Sagan's bike have the squishy head tube suspension doobry?
-
• #16233
Yes.
-
• #16234
Just wondering what Terpy was wondering coping a feel like that. Are QS on Sepecialized with access to the future shock doobry too? Thought they were but can't remember.

They are, but Terpstra chose to ride a Tarmac...maybe because of his issues with the Roubaix last year.

• #16236
Is there a vid showing the gap Terpstra made from Group 2 to get 3rd?
-
• #16237
Makes sense, completely forgotten than it was Terpstra whose handlebars came off last year!
-
• #16238
Interesting. It wasn’t exactly problem free for Sagan either.
-
• #16239
Not that I’ve found. The gap was exaggerated greatly by the cagey track antics that followed.
-
• #16240
He said he had no issues this year.
Unless you're talking about the stem, which someone said was Zipp?
-
• #16241
Unless you're talking about the stem.
Uhuh. I’m assuming the two are related but maybe not I guess.
-
• #16242
Well Terpy crashed because he asked for the FutureShock stuff to be made rigid and the custom bit they used wasn't up to it and Sagan just tightened a stem bolt which doesn't relate to the suspension stuff either (especially if it was 3rd party). I don't know if Sagan left the suspension unfucked with or not.

What is probably the French version of an inquest is starting on the death of Michael Goolaerts:

“According to our initial information, some form of medical issue, without doubt cardiac-related, caused the crash [in which the cyclist was involved], rather than a crash causing his medical state,” the spokesperson said.
I'd thought this might be the case. It does seem the super fit can be prone to this type of catastrophic heart attack. Quite a few footballers in recent years spring to mind, particularly the amazing story of Fabrice Muamba.
A terrible tragedy though for his family, friends and teammates regardless.

I could definitely see him twisting the little stem cap adjuster thing before and after the cobbled bits, so I'm assuming he was running it as intended. Whether it made a difference or not, who knows.

There is merit in journalistic coverage of the race, however marred and tragic it may have turned out to be.
Selling product off the back of it is not the same thing. Race Radio is part of Rapha's content marketing effort, it's marketing not reportage.

Not quite true, Terpy crashed because a "miscommunication" led to Terpstra's bike having pre-production steerer cartridge for race. As it was pre-production it hadn't been tested. The right part - also custom but properly made and tested - was left on the shelf.

Comes first place. Workman/tools argument?
Horrible to hear about Goolaerts. My heart sank lower than my stomach as the image flashed by during the race, really hoped I would be wrong. Makes me feel unwell that I can see it when I blink.
So no media should talk about the race either because they're a business too?
