Ouch. Feel for you - that happened to me once. It cost the driver - well their insurer - a lot of money.
Least you won't need a bike shop to write that bike off. Hit up BC.
Did you dent their car as well as trashing the windscreen? I hope you did.
-
• #1978
Ouch, get checked out by the doctors and stuff. Fingers crossed for no lasting injury, bikes can always be replaced.

Looks a bit like something out of NAHBS.
Need to work out where to pitch the compensation... bah
-
• #1980
How did the car end up there? Looks like they were they cutting the corner, trying to nip across ahead of you.

Sadly not. Stoopid plastic cars.

She was looking for a parking space and just turned straight across to go into that road. Saw her look up in horror about a second before she hit me

Heal up soon.
Don't forget to record costs of lost time at work, public transport etc etc.
Also, that'll definitely buff out.
-
• #1985
Noooo! Glad it was just a bike and nothing worse. Heal up !
-
• #1986
Fuck, how did I not see/hear this!
That fucking road man, I swear it's actually got worse since they've put the speed bumps in, so many tossers taking a chance to nip through ever decreasing gaps.
Hope you're not hurting too much, let me know if you need anything.
-
• #1987
Glad you're OK, but yes, get yourself checked.
Is that street a noted local rat-run, then?
-
• #1988
Yeah, it's in the centre of one of the most popular places for students/families to live in Norwich, and suffers from a combination of several circumstantial problems.
It's a main route from the University into town (and is meant to be part of the 'pedalway' which was developed a few years ago) so there's lots of traffic of all kinds, but it's a very narrow road once you factor in the inevitable parked cars and has speed bumps all the way down.
There's a primary school on the same road, so it gets even more congested at times with cars and pedestrians, not to mention a number of even smaller terraced streets and a handful of businesses which intersect it.
And just to exacerbate things further it's a fairly pronounced hill in both directions (for Norwich) so speeds on bikes are maybe unexpected, and obviously harder to judge for all concerned.
TL;DR - it's not ideal.

As Thross said - used to be a lot worse, too, they only recently restricted the parking to one side and put in those speed bumps

Thanks for good wishes all. Can barely lift my arm today but it's pretty OK, considering
-

Write everything like that down on a daily basis in a recovery diary.
can't use arm to dress yourself unaided, write it down.
struggling to sleep because you keep replaying the accident in your head, write it down.
change in mood, not quite yourself, people notice you a change in your demeanour, etc etc.their insurer will try to wiggle out of as much as they can, an honest account of the impact it's had on your life will help ensure that you get a fair shake in terms of compensation for the disruption their careless actions have had on you.

Out on a ride yesterday morning, going through some road works in primary and got taken out by some shit house who couldn't wait an extra 5 seconds to pass me so decided he'd try and pass before getting past the road works which meant his wing mirror hitting my arm and me hitting the deck. On my 2 week old Canyon... He stuck around for a little got a couple of photos and all his information. Called the police told no one could attend so got a reference number and was told to go to a station within 24 hours to record it as an Injury RTC, which I've just completed and gave to the police station to send off. Bike is currently at a LABC for a check up fingers crossed nothing major but both my ultegra shifters are scratched up and one side of my saddle has torn as well as a cracked helmet which has annoyed me as the bike and helmet are practically new. Will be speaking to the British Cycling legal team tomorrow morning when they're open for advice.
Think I've covered everything I need to? I'm ok in myself got a big chunk taken out of my hand, a couple scratches on my leg and had a constant headache since the crash which has only just shifted but I don't think it warrants using up the NHS's already stretched service.
Just heard from LBC, other than a couple cosmetic marks the rear hanger is cracked so I guess it could be a lot worse. Still will note all this down for costs etc.

Go to a drop in centre and get yourself looked at.

If you cracked your helmet and have headaches, go and get checked out. Please.
-
• #1996
^^^ Yes, you have to see a doctor about that as soon as you can.
-
• #1997
Xray unit is closed today so gonna book in to see my GP tomorrow and go from there. Walk in centre couldn't really do much, said it might be a mild concussion but just said have some painkillers and see if the headaches gone by tomorrow.
Is there anything else I've missed to follow this up with a Solicitor and go through the drivers insurance?

I don't know if this counts as a minor accident as I have no recollection of it but on Thursday night I was cycling home from work drinks and next thing I know I was getting into an ambulance on what I believe was Mildmay Park, perhaps near the junction of Mildmay Grove South if I can trust my GPS data.
I am mostly fine now but it was pretty scary being told I had multiple fractures to my skull and bleeding on the brain. Definitely going to wear a helmet during my commute after that. My bicycle is a different story, was told by the shop that the frame is a write off. I can only guess that with the forces involved I may have been in a hit and run. Have filled a police report with the little I know and hoping that the police contact Islington Council for some CCTV.

• #1999
that sounds awful and way more serious than a minor accident! hope you heal up soon and get some more info about what happened.
-
• #2000
Christ. Sound horrific. Hope you have a quick recovery and get some idea of what happened.
Just had someone pull across me. No indication, admits to not seeing me in statement, witnesses, police etc. Open and shut, I should hope. Bike is rekt :(
BC membership still the go-to for maximum fucking of their insurance policy? Also bruised the hell out my my shoulder and road rash.
