  • Detoured at Palace after Elliot Bank having zig zagged up Cannonbie

Brilliant to ride with some legends today.

  • Great riding today with forum folk, thank you for waiting at those hills, also great catching up with other forum folk at Brixton Jamm,

edit @ian(conker) saw you at Jamm but didn’t manage to speak, hope you had a good one.

Super edit: Thank you @Dave_Cobblemonster and everyone involved in providing another memorable day in and around Babylon-don

    Almac

  • Great ride today. We had a super group and i really enjoyed the conditions too.

Thanks to everyone I rode with, absolute pleasure and well done all. I was really pleased with myself as i have felt all year like I'm in poor condition compared to normal and expected to find it tough. But then i felt great all the way around.

Ralph - hope you're ok after the nasty spill.

  • Great first cobblemonster and forum ride for me. Somehow still had the legs to make good time home to watch the end of the race as well.

    Cheers all!

  • Two brilliant new South London finds for me today.

First Whitepost Lane - a rare cobbled climb in London and a great new feature for this edition.

Second on my way home a bright metallic green Merc in Loughborough Jn that was honestly more gauche than the famous gold 4x4.

  • Cheers Hamish. Nice to meet you and brill riding with you. Simon

  • more gauche than the famous gold 4x4.

    Impossibru!!!

  • I tried to find a pic online but couldn't. Truly nauseating shade of metallic green

  • Good ride today, struggled a bit on Cannonbie fixed and slightly over geared.
Nice to see a few familiar faces and meet @Cazakstan

  • That Was So RAD (<special word for corny) It was brilliant to see so many of US there, the naughty table at the end was giggles. Special props to people from north of the river and further afield making the big effort to ride on a wet Sunday. And of course cheers to @Dave_Cobblemonster and his Cobble fairies for putting it on for us.

Soz I missed yr replies @almac68 @jonny, lots going on at home beforehand. Think I started around 10:30 in the end, rode with a cool forum lurker called Dan for most of it, was so buzzing when I caught up a big bunch on Canonbie, even tried to showboat it on the way up while most of you were all in your Granny gears.

Save The Fixie! You know it makes sense! Rah!

    @furious_tiles we missed you.

    x

  • Who won the raffle?

  • @Dave_Cobblemonster
I’ve mislaid one of my track mitts (RH) at Jamm, if it is found please hold for me and I’ll collect in the week.

  • Just got home after an uneventful but dreary ride home. Eating Pringles waiting for hot water to kick in.
Was amazing to ride with so many forum greats, felt like no time has past. Apologies for holding everyone up on hills. That bike picks it’s own pace and there’s very little I can do to sway it otherwise.
@Skülly and @mashton, you’ve inspired me to sort mudguards for the skidder..

  • First Whitepost Lane - a rare cobbled climb in London and a great new feature for this edition

top marks for the one that added grass at the top of that cobbled climb, it was remarkably like the ascent of the Muur van Geraardsbergen (wrong race I know) but such attention to detail..

  • @mashton! He’s now the proud owner of a small silver Steamroller. Don’t think it’ll fit him.

  • Great ride today, thanks to those who waited at the top and took another 5 minutes of rain before jamm for me.

It was great to rude in such a good group though I reckon I'm going to feel it tomorrow.

Still confused by the shut pub...

  • After the first 10 miles of riding through a fine spray of tiny water droplets I started to feel the damp in my shoes. By the time I got to BC they were just about to close up. Spent the first few miles trying to catch @almac68 who, I was informed by @Object had only set off 10mins before me... Never got to see him, though he did apparently see me at Jamm. Poked my head through the door at LMNH but couldn't see anyone I knew. Eventually I found Thomas Stevens (not on here) with a few of his friends that I see once a year at the Dog & Bell. A very nice pint & pork pie was enjoyed (don't tell the rabbi). Found @Skülly at the end - nice to see you fella. Also, think I saw @OneLessCardigan from a distance somewhere in the back streets of Brixton, looking like he was on the way home.
A surprisingly enjoyable day considering the weather. Next time I'll wear shoe covers

  • Hah awesome!

  • Great ride today, great to see so many faces this morning/afternoon. The ride as everyone said was amazing, my first long (and probably longest ride in 2018) as it couldn't be more wetter in this April showers! Aside from me being a little over excited with one of the cobble climbs and crashing my bike (due to riding on the grass) it was a fun day out. Would have liked to stayed longer at the pub but i think after 2 days of drinking and being completely soaked from head to toe the decision to go home was a wise one. Look forward to the next one (minus the crashing)
