  • Seatpost paint (or powder-coat) holds up just as well as the frame, as the prep's the same. It's never raised or lowered as nobody else rides it, and it's security-bolted in place so I never remove it. I doubt either coating would withstand regular lowering/raising.
Front light is a Cygolite Metro 360, but any handlebar-mount light would probably work. Rear is Cygolite Hotshot SL50.

  • Yeah I never thought about the fact that once it's set the movement issue shouldn't even be an issue. My beater already has a colour matched fork, stem and handle bars and as they need a repaint I thought about doing my rack and wald basket to match so seatpost might get done too! Thanks for the tips!

  • Recent back injury has put me off the bike(s) for a while. In order to get back on, changes must be made.
Step 1 - Mudguards off, fatter comfier tyres on.
    Sim Works 'Volummy' 700x38s.

Step 2 - Time to 'Grandpa' the riding position somewhat, yet give me the chance to regain flexibility gradually.
Jones H-Bar Loop 660mm, butted/taper aluminium + Shimano BL-R550 levers. If I come upon a used set of black Paul Canti Levers locally I'll swap 'em out, but I need to get this thing rolling.

  • You should go for v-brakes as you have the opportunity now you have flat bars on. Mini-motos or something.

  • It had V-brakes on it for over 4 years, using Tektro RL520 levers.
Cantis are fine, especially on a chill city rig like this. Gearing is now down to 38x18T.

  • This is gonna look good with the jones bars, hope you heal up soon!

  • All buttoned up.
Bar tape is Mash SF 'Gamma' - comes with lovely metal bar ends that fit flat or drop bars, and the nicest finishing tape I've ever used.

Fingers crossed for dry weather soon, dying to ride it.

  • Wrow! The new cockpit looks so nice, full bike pics when??

  • First ride yesterday. This thing is plush, thanks in part to a new (Rapha Classic 145mm) saddle.

Levers and cables were set up so that they aren't visible from the saddle.

  • Wow, excellent.

  • Looks great!

  • fantastic job, looks amazing

  • nice to see you've used a flexible v-brake noodle to route the front brake cable into the canti hanger - have just ordered some of those to try and solve a tricky cable issue I've got ...🀞

  • What the thing on the left strut of the basket?

  • light holder

  • See post #68 in this thread

  • oh very smart, might have to steal that idea when I get mine built up

  • Incredible! What's the bell?

  • Diggin' those tyres!

  • Hip hop functional

  • That looks amazing! Is it definitely a Kalloy uno seatpost? I can't find any with a clamp like that.

  • Maybe Spurcycle bell
