• And so it begins. Built the tent with the help of dad- it's attached to his workshop, which forms one wall, then loads of 4x2 and a massive tarp. Out some boards down, to make it easier to work under the car. Had a good dig around, and found a couple of spots o the chassis that need welding, but really nothing terrible. It's all quite sound, and the front end is actually mush straighter than I thought it was. The crumpled bumper made it look far worse than it was. Have decided to replace the brakes throughout with new discs, pads, drums and shoes. Car has been well undersealed, so the underside is generally in good condition. I think it had a lot of work done, including the suspension etc, shortly before it was abandoned on the farm. A lot of it looks quite new. Next stage is to straighten the front, and start welding chassis and wheel arches.

I'm considering a 2 inch lift, as ground clearance is quite low. Would also couple this with a slightly bigger tyres, which would help make the gears a bit longer. It's only a 4 speed transmission, and apparently the revs are pretty high, even cruising at 60mph. Any thoughts/ advice on this?

  • I have a rotisserie that is made from two engine stands, if you are interested. Makes things 500% easier. We don’t need it any more.
