That musical instrument maker / beer shop used to house a really good haberdashers shop, held together by the nicotine stains of the elderly chain-smoking couple that owned it.
The Brock in question is John Brock, the firework manufacturer renowned for his displays at The Crystal Palace, when that stood atop Sydenham Hill - as evidenced by the pub The Pyrotechnists Arms - across the road from the musical instrument maker / beer shop.ETA - Strong use of streetlamp-as-mask in the new one. Commendable ;-)

Ooooh, I know it.
But I doubt I'll get to it. -

Great knowledge, I always wondered why the pub is named that. Nice one.

I thangeouw.
For 8 years I lived in a house-share just down the road, opposite the Golden Anchor pub, in the house which had previously been home to the recording studios of The Mad Professor's Ariwa Sounds label. Although he'd moved to Thornton Heath some time before I'd moved in, we'd still get demo tapes shoved through the letterbox on a fairly regular basis.
Bonus! It was a party house. My age, shoe size and house number were all the same - in a syzygy kind of way.
It is the best place I have ever lived.I've always been into stuff about The Crystal Palace.

Dammit, one that I know - I used to live a couple of streets over! But as I now live over 100 miles away, it's probably safe from me.

I don’t want to blow my own trumpet here ...

Blow your own trumpet? Don't wag your own horn either!

Weapons-grade punning very much in evidence.

I know this one and fancy a ride tomorrow daytime. Anyone with a good idea and free time fancy a tag team?

I'd be delighted to do so, unfortunately work beckons.
Another time p'raps. -

edit: I knew I'd ridden past it before. Been a while though. (Cool story)

I’ll get this tomorrow if it’s not gone, regardless of how poor form that is (for a multitude of reasons).
Needs to move on! -
• #20221
Seems like everyone knows where it is but no one wants to go there!
-
• #20222
Am still totally perplexed
-
• #20223
Yeah, I'd have got it by now if I had any idea.

• #20224
I might go in a bit.
