Does anyone have reccomendations for a 26" mtb tyre that's good in mud and not super expensive?

Specialized Storm Control and Bontrager XR Mud are both excellent all-conditions tyres if you're not too fussed about mad volume. Purgatory/Butcher 2.3 combo I'm currently running is pretty decent in mud too.
