  • sorry, yes I mean steerer. Edited.

Having now looked at the weight of ahead converters, going ahead with a converter is only ever going to make things heavier, so this plan might not have legs.

  • Why don't you just slam the stem with your current setup? Could go a lot lower still.

  • It's currently about 15mm lower than pictured. I don't like totally slamming quill stems because when you remove them you have insert marks and scratches. Also, the more quill stem you have inside the steerer the more potential for sticking / jamming.

  • Spesh did some nice ti stems that fit a 26 handlebar..

  • I’ve asked this before but can’t find the answer: can I assume most mid-90s onwards frames will take a BSA bottom bracket to fit a modern chainset?

What about those pictured on eBay fitted with square taper BBs?

  • I have several mid-nineties frames I putted modern BB's in. You just have to know whether it's BSA or Italian.

  • And even if it's Ita, most modern BB's come in Ita too.

  • Thanks. So many nice frames on eBay. I’m like a kid in a sweet shop.

  • Fancy a nice Fausto Coppi from 1996? ;)

Know what you mean. I have more neo retro bikes than there are days in a week. Correction: month... ;)

  • I’ve got a bid in on a lovely 753 frame on eBay but post a pic anyway.

  • What size do you need?

  • Anything between a 56cm and 58cm top tube would fit. Maybe a centimetre bigger at a push.

  • Thanks! There you go
My other front wheel has some loose spokes so this is my only spare front wheel that i had.

The only course of action now is to get a matching rear spok, like @Carabo.

  • Posted this last summer, but not since I corrected it by replacing the white bits for black...

  • ^^^ Is that 26,4 drop bars on a 26mm stem ?
nice frame and rear wheel !

  • thought about it but I never photoshopped it but now that I see it.. it's kinda sick

  • Very nice, maybe stainless king cages?

  • Got a lovely Joe Waugh frame I’m building up with 5800. There’s a thread in current projects.

Are these the right cable stops to convert from downtube shifters?

  • Cheers. Cabling this thing up is the daunting part. I regard modern gears as some sort of witchcraft. It will probably have to go to the LBS to be properly indexed.

  • Same colour way as a frameset I bought recently :)
