On the subject of spd stealth shoes, I can’t work out why very few seem to have the cleat properly recessed so the sole around it stops the cleat from clacking on the ground. Bought some chrome mids ages ago, they’re pretty good on the bike but really don’t protect the cleat from the ground. Think Shimano do an ugly touring one that does. Any others?

quoc pham hardcourts (i have the lows) are about the best i've had so far. no clacking when walking
I don't think I'll ever buy dzr again as they literally just fall apart and come unglued in a few months.
had some chrome ones which were rock-solid but they don't make the ones I bought anymore and mine were a half-size too small (got them on-sale for $40 in their flagship store in chicago while on holiday so worth the minor discomfort).

'Cos otherwise it looks like you've got those built up shoes like you get if one of your legs is a lot shorter than the other.

I revel in remedial!
@dancing james yes yours are the ones to which I am referring. They do look recognizably ‘cycle’ though, don’t they.
@HatBeard I just can’t get past qp logo looking like a pendant cock n balls. Oh and they do have a very office-shoe look, not really my bag.

That was the wettest, coldest ride I’ve done in some while. 13 miles in driving rain, soaked through, two layers of Goretex gave up the ghost within about 20 minutes. Had to change to spare dry gloves at Angel cos my fingers were actually hurting from the cold. Office here looks like a laundry now with 3 riders worth of kit attempting to dry out by 6pm.

Do you have a accessible server room?
Nothing dries like server heat. Been there, done that, hung it behind the airvents and it was dry in no time :)
Do ask the room owner though.

two layers of Goretex
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of goretex?

"That rack has lost power again. Damned if I know what's going on but there seems to be a water leak from somewhere. I can't see anything dripping from the roof. Do you have plumbing drawings for this building... "

Fell into one of the giant potholes which were filled up with water on London Road and came out the other side unscathed.
Having previously lived in Manchester for a few years, this ain't shit.

You'd be surprised. Our systems guys told me the humidity is kept very low and that draws the moisture out. Keep the clothes near the servers for any warmth you can get.

Padded shorts and long sleeved t.
Knew I was gonna get drenched and loved it.
Couldn't stop grinning all the way in.
Did get that cold-to-hot feeling after the shower though
pffft - usual hollowtech 2 BB clicks appeared this morning
