  • @JB put me on to him so messaged him about the Airking last night - haven't heard back yet though

  • More I see all these the less I want a date window.

  • A lot of brands seem to really struggle to do it well. Probably because they're often using generic movements?

Maybe the consumer demand for always having a date is just that strong its basically mandatory for anything over a certain price. But it would be nice if a bit more thought was put in.

That's why I think the Rolex cyclops works so well. It just acknowledges it clearly, functionality and confidently.

  • Mmm. I need to swap the crystal with a non-cyclops for the stendardo auto. I find that a plain flat crystal and small unobtrusive date feels better for me.

Probably I'd like a nice screw down crown and back, auto, no date, to use without needing to worry about setting the calendar whilst swapping between trash wristware and fancy, as well as good waterproofing just in case.

But yea, most date windows look a bit meh.

  • He posted at the top of the most recent thread saying he was falling asleep after writing descriptions for all of them and he gets 100s and 100s of private messages after a kabatime is posted.

  • He's just responded to me re: the chronograph...

He'll let it go for $1,100.

    Argh. Temptation.

  • What exactly is it - who manufactured it?

The dial looks like it’s had some work, the left hand subdial has been repainted and the hand is mismatched / not original. That doesn’t mean it’s not good value, depending on what’s inside. My guess is the rest of the dial is original. Can you get a movement shot and one of the caseback?

  • Yeah, he's got a deal with some else on it but will let me know.

I like the Panerai he has as well but not for now.

  • There are some in the imgur link afaik

  • It's made by Chronographe Suisse.

They were basically tourist trap watches from the 40s - 60s so made of the thinest gold and cheapest materials.
They were for tourists who want to come home with a Swiss watch from their holidays.

But they do look good, are increasing in value and this one is original (the asymmetric subdial hands are part of the original design).

I'll probably pass but will sleep on it.

  • Looks like a Bovet Frères & Cie Chronographe
I take back what I said about the subdial hand, seems like they’re supposed to be that way. Still looks like it’s had some repainting work done

  • Super weird, I’ve no idea why the logo looks bent out of shape, I just had to check it and it’s fine. Must be the cyclops bending the light, ha

  • I might pick up one of these for wearing on the mud bike.

  • I have had two Timex Triathlons - bullet proof and, if lost or damaged, not a headache to replace. Keep an eye on Amazon for offers.

  • Currently £25 on Amazon, seems silly to not buy one really.

  • Looks nice. Which model is this? In some ways I prefer it to my SKX009. I prefer the look of the crown at 3 o'clock and the edge of the bezel looks nicer.

  • Buy it!
    Nuff said 😁

  • This is the one I have. Reviews for the Expedition are a bit varied but for £25.

  • Cheers. It’s the SKX033K2. Cal 7S26-0040. It measures 42mm with 22mm lugs. I actually ordered it thinking it was the same case size as my broken one, which is marked 7S26-0050 and measures 40mm and 20mm lugs, and is practically identical. I still intend to find an exact replacement eventually.

  • Where did you find it? I've had a quick look online and pretty much all places are out of stock so I'm guessing it's been discontinued?!
