  • If it was mine I would flip the bars. Other that that looks spot on.

  • I kinda like the flipped bars.
This has come out great, it's all so myfirstfixie but not at the same time it's glorious: conversion, flipped risers with high stem, lots of seatpost, 27" frame.
Would ride. Glad you're loving it.

  • Just realised that you actually have a handlebar moustache and a bike with moustache bars! Mind blown!

  • Thanks, that's a really lovely comment to receive!

I think you've made me realise why I like the flipped bars. If they were the other way up the stem would be slammed and the drop from saddle to stem would look even bigger. I'm totally used to the bars now and really like them this way up.

And yep, moustache handlebars with a handlebar moustache. I also have purple and orange painted toenails to match the paint, but that's my secret.

  • A latest pic. I gave in and flipped the bars. Much better!

I have also just put on some mud guards. So this post is really for @Skülly.

  • Ah yes, very nice so. As mentioned, I had this model once, in sage green. I can't remember how I built it, or where it went. All water sous le pont. How's the project with the triple going?

  • Laverlyy!

I'd be tempted to keep fettling with that rear mudguard, gotta close up those gaps :)

  • If I close the gap I can't remove the wheel...

  • The triple sits in my parts box. Occasionally it looks at me and I look at it. Then we both go about our days.

    Our time will come.

  • hmm true, now that you mention it I have a similar problem with my mudguard that I didn't think about, have been deflating the tyre to get my wheel out. Bit of a mish!

  • Well given that in a puncture situation the tyre is already deflated, that doesn't sound tooooo bad.

I'm going to go and canvas the mudguard thread.

  • I'll tell you now. Too gappy. Sort it out.

  • +1

    Also mudflaps

  • A half-link on the chain might help the mudguard line - pushes wheel a bit forward in ends, less gap at front. Move hanger grippy thing a bit to sort the line at the back.

    But overall, lovely.

  • mud guards

    What mudguards are the?

  • Ah now I get it (replied in mudguard thread). Besides the gap at the front, you also need to fettle the seatstay bridge attachment and/or the stay attachment point to get the radius right. As you can see in the pic, there's a bulge between the two so either the mudguard stays needs to attach further forward or the seatstay thingy needs to move back a little. Front looks easier to fix, just let the guard out a bit at the bottom.

  • What mudguards are the?

No idea, I got them from a cheap clear out for sale thread on here. I had a very nice ride to the Isle of Dogs, to pick up a couple of bottle cages and then back through Camberwell to pick these up, handing over a fiver for them. Lovely evening of riding and forum commerce.

  • Ah.

    The search continues.

Not that I'm searching very hard - I haven't even looked at my Grubb in 5+ years, so it's not as if the need is urgent.

Same colours as yours, as it happens. (Although not the original paint job).

    Your beik looks nice.

  • I've got the same issue with my 27" wheel frame, the 700c mudguards need some fettling.

  • Those guards look at lot like the SKS Bluemels I have, which give me exactly the same back wheel issu

  • Oooooh, just dug this out the garage,,,, mine of information thread this is
