This will make it handle slower, not faster.

Don't really understand how that would work.
Less fork offset should make for sharper steering right?
Or am I missing something? -
• #54
Less trail make for quicker steering, but less stability.
More rake = less trail.
You have two option;
650b wheels with 45mm tyres, smaller wheel will lessen the trail slightly (from 64mm of trail to a reasonable 58mm trail).
Go for a fork with a 55mm rake, give you a trail of 59mm, with 650b 45mm tyres, 53mm trail*.
*To give you an idea, a typical road race bike have 56=57mm of trail.

Great thanks. They were pretty dry from the shop so gave them some good grease and torqued them up to 10Nm.

are you supposed to grease the bb shell when installing an ebb?
or just the faces of moving parts / threads?i just took mine out and cleaned it up following a chainring change, but found contradictory info.
(this was on an alu frame charge plug - spec printed on the ebb was 6.75 Nm for the wedge bolt - bolt had threadlock on) -

I'd say a thin film of grease inside the BB shell is wise to stop any corrosion. Same as any other metal to metal contact under pressure.

Looks great!

Front Through axle on the Arkose 2017/18 fork is 12 x 100 and the thread pitch is 1.5 right?
Total length of axle with thread is 125mm or so

I checked the code of mine which is QR264F, and look identical to this, make sense as a lots of part are Novatec on the Pinnacle;
M12, 1.5 125mm, reckon you're spot on, but can find out at work tomorrow just to be certain.

Or maybe I should have just check the website in the first place come to think of it!

Drop bars and 9speed on the dad bike now. Microshift bar end shifter, works well. -

I'm almost set on an Arkose - I guess my only reservation is I don't want to be at an enormous disadvantage on road rides. This will be mainly commuting, weekend rides into Kent, Turbo and regents laps so I think with 35mm Marathon Supremes should be perfect - and if I find myself feeling so inclined 650b in the future. Do people often use theirs on road rides?

nice cross chaining

I've used mine with normal tyres as a road bike. It handles this type of riding fine. Will handle more like a road bike if you size down and use a longer stem as they tend to come with tiny short ones.

I use mine on regent laps with 48/32, doesn’t feel like a disadvantage even with 48mm 650b tyres.

Picked up yesterday from @pjhobs/ Liz. Served me very well this morning for Regents Park laps absolute belter!
Just need to sort the shifting out - can't get into the lowest gear without it skipping back up. Tried to remedy it but seem to have made it worse - I will learn how these damn contraptions work if its the last thing I do.

Never used in mine but I guess it's a good idea for the geared one.
