...actually they should allocate fuel and tyres for the entire season to the team at the start, and let them use them as they see fit.
this would mean that if you get punted off by Max Verstappen on corner 1, you have more fuel for the rest of the season so can up your "mix" and be faster and make up points in the championship etc etc keeping it closer - also if your car is a dog for some reason again, up your fuel mix, and take the leaner races later in the season.
same goes for tyres - certain amount of the different compounds per season and bring them to any race you want.
