  • They only supply. We’re getting DSM / Dave Makepeace to do them, from their approved installers list.

  • Cheers Ludwig.

Yep, moving up the road to wood green on the scotch estate, traded in the flat for a house.

    Super excited.

  • We're about to put our place on the market and now our neighbour has piped up to say he's seriously interested...He's motivated, he's a nice guy, and he's offered a good price. It's a trap right?

We're not in a rush and there's no chain involved on either side, so what would my 1% agent fee get me here instead of selling privately?

  • what would my 1% agent fee get me here

    A cervelo?

  • so what would my 1% agent fee get me here instead of selling privately?

If the price offered is objectively good, then very little, unless your sale starts to come off the rails

  • I also had to catch their incorrect addition of trickle vents on everything.

Why incorrect? They were required by building regs, they're now just 'guidance' but that's only because the fenestration industry (through FENSA) thew a wobbly and DCLG gave in.

Are you sure you're not going to end up with unwanted condensation?

I had the opposite - we almost ended up with no trickle vents for our non-opening double glazed windows in the bathroom and toilet. lol.

  • I'm planning on building up the reveal to the glass with solid timber to give a frameless appearance, which would cover the trickle vents. They all open and have a lockable ventilation position thats 5mm at the bottom. Might end up with vents in the walls too.

  • Any recommendations for kitchen fitters in North London? John Lewis have quoted me £16k all told for a very small kitchen, I'd like to hope I could get cheaper.

  • I've just used these guys to do my kitchen and I'm very pleased with the standard of the finished job.

  • I'm really sorry if this question is too radical and/or exciting, but are there any good mop alternatives out there? Or is a standard mop still the go-to for tiled floors?

I had one of those squeezy sponge ones once but I wasn't that impressed with it, but my life is in a different place now and I might be ready to give it another go.

  • They don’t fit them but my friends do the doors etc based on Ikea kitchen hardware the end product is very good though.

  • Vileda Supermop ogtfo

  • apparently no question is too banal for the homeowners thread...
I just use a cloth, I've never got on with mops.

  • Can anyone recommend buildings insurers for blocks of flats? I own the ground floor of a converted terrace, freehold between me and the other landlord and the premium with our usual insurer is getting a bit steep.

  • Cleaning the floor with a cloth? I don't live in a castle, but wouldn't that take years?

  • It's only the kitchen (~2sqm tiling) on a semi-regular basis, the laminate flooring across the rest of the ground floor doesn't get wet-wiped very often, I just hoover the fluff off it...

  • Add another vote for the vileda

  • We use a combination of a vileda super mop and also an Aldi steam cleaner that they had in a couple of weeks back

  • Try wren kitchens. I've had good experience with them so far.
Although I'm sure all feedback isn't positive.

  • This is who I use, they specialise in that kind of thing although may not be the cheapest http://maundertaylor.co.uk/insurance/

  • Cheers, will give them a bell in the morning.

  • I have a Kentucky mop.
    A bucket.
    And a microfiber mop.

One does hot soapy wash of the floor on the kitchen.
The other does the hard wood floors.

  • We did look at Wren but the volume of negative feedback put us off (plus the fact we had to go to Staples Corner). Will probably take another look now though.

@Simpson Cheers but the funky IKEA sizes have probably ruled them out for us and it looks like they only do stuff for IKEA units.

@gingerchris Cheers, I'll have a look at them. Did they deal with plumbing and electrics too?

  • I'm a big fan of Muji's microfibre mop, partly because it's collapsible so is easy to store.
