    Really? Personation was part of the culture in Ulster, and there is a lot of election fraud in areas with large poorly integrated South Asian populations. It's not enough of a problem that National ID wouldn't be a much bigger one, but it definitely happens.

    No, it's just a confirmation that you are registered and tells you where the polling station is. Edit: I suppose you are encouraged to take it with you, but that just speeds up ticking you off the register.
