As a general rule of thumb, if it is creased then be careful, if it is a 'smooth' dent then you've just added some fancy 'forming' ;)

Can’t completely tell without taking back some extra paint but I think it’s more just a smooth “flat” on an otherwise round tube, no creases or edges. Yeah guess I should do that soon. Any way to get shallow dents out without filler?

Shit - that’s bollocks - I’d have made sure the cabbie helped me keep hold of the bin man and given the dibble a call to come and take an RTA report.
Either way I’m almost certain there should be some information with which you can identify the bin man- rota, designated area, etc, but I guess that relies on the council being forthcoming - did he not have an ID badge or some kind of license of some sort?
