Yesterday afternoon I dropped the frameset off with August Bicycles, where I was greeted by Gav, who seems a thoroughly nice dude with a very enviable workshop and great taste in death metal.
Have decided to have the rest of the downtube guides removed and extra threaded inserts brazed onto the bottom of the DT for those bolt-on triple housing guides, with a front derailleur cable stop. on the seat tube and cable-tie guides on the chainstay. Will also have some holes drilled and reinforcements brazed on the right fork leg for the dynamo cable. As nice as full internal dynamo routing sounds, I can't think of a way to do it that doesn't involve seatpost shenanigans (or that won't drive me insane).
The SP hub arrived yesterday, so I can get on with wheelbuilding shortly!

Ooo! Just found this thread!
I can definitely recommend thunder butts too. Ive even been using mine for commuting, mtb trails, gravel, snow, etc. Good mix of speed and grip. Indeed very light, and they are wearing much slower than expected! My 2.1" measures 52mm from knob to knob on a 35mm external rim

Throwing some more tyre options into the mix. I use Clement MSO in 700 x 50 ( 29x1.9) and find them great. Again....I'm 80/90% b road and then some muck for the other 10%:or so.

And these arrived yesterday (£15 each) and look lovely. Will be used for some slightly gravely canal side touring in France later this year. They are lovely....

It's OK everyone, I have already ordered Gravel King SKs. But the tyre chat will be useful for when I decide I don't like them and want to try something else
Might take a break from Gilles Berthoud on this build. Looking at VO Zeppelins in noooooooir. Will I fit 47s under them?
