Yes. The default rule is your stem and seat post should match - definitely aesthetically, ideally by brand.
Enve seatposts are meant to be good, but the stems look gash and aren't worth it. So they are not an option. You're right Thomson are boring and their road stems are ugly.

And what do people think about Enve for stem and seatpost? Their prices seem a bit rich even for a vanity project...
Am a fan of Thomson so will probably end up getting their stuff again... but it does get a bit boring...
