Thanks pal.

Someone on here must have em fitted :)
Been looking at studded tyres, found these.

I'm in the World Champs. Bit steep mind, £50! Is a global championship I guess.

fixed my first puncture on the 2 spd brompton.
Not as much of a faff as first anticipated, but it was in the comfort of my own home.
2 spd derailleur is very plasticky, feel the need to swap that out for something sexier and titanium, but don't actually need to..
lubed the chain for the first time in months, less creaky/squeaky immediately.. -
• #3756
the derailleur is made up of winged metal plate? only a small amount of plastic, unless you mean the tensioner?
-
• #3757
a bearded fellow?
-
• #3758
you are correct I meant the chain tensioner.
Seen some lovely ones on Nov Design, but they are butt clenchingly expensive.. -
• #3759
They are. But they're lovely. I've just ordered my second one.
-
• #3760
Lighter than the one they replaced, or just a lovely looking visual upgrade?
-
• #3761
If they are lighter, it's not going to be by much as the plastic Brompton one is pretty light. Basically it's just bling.
-
• #3762
The original Brompton tensioner work perfectly well, the only issues is merely trying to clean the jockey wheel out of the dirt and grim that get build up inside the tooth.

Was in the Brum Evans earlier today, and they had a CHPT3 Edition in the window. Really does not look good in the metal IMO - even the gumwall Kojaks looked rubbish.
-

I've thrown a yacht-moored-in-Monte-Carlo's worth of GBP at my Brom, in an attempt to make it lighter.
Thus far, it tips the scales at ~1kg more than my Ti road bike.
From the outset, I've wanted to keep it low key / anti theft.
Thus, much as I am attracted to blingy, blingy will have to stay in shop. -

First ride commute in on my Brompton today. When does it start to become 'fun'? Not sure about all that flex in the front end too, a little bit unnerving.
-
• #3766
What did tighten up all the bolts after you unfolded it, yes?
-
• #3767
Might be tyre pressure, when it drops away from 100psi, I find my Brompton is far too squishy and flexi. Pump the tyres back up and it’s back to normal (relatively) for a Brompton..
-
• #3768
Indeed, it's just quite easy to rock the handlebar stem and it flexes a lot more than I'm used to, but I'm guessing it's the length of it.
-
• #3769
I definitely need to up the pressure. I didn't want to push it too far because the whole thing's new to me, but I'll probably up it from 80psi and see how it goes. It's a whole new experience after the fixeh life.
-
• #3770
Wait until you try climbing out of the saddle!
Embrace it, it's not really a performance machine. Contrary to @cornelius_blackfoot I'm happy with about 80psi.
-
• #3771
I prefer a firmer tyre like @cornelius_blackfoot maybe that’s one for the bigger chaps and not the hill climbers!?
-
• #3772
Want to get the Brompton serviced in East - where would be recommended?
-
• #3773
Purely out of habit, I did a usual fixed dismount of swinging my outside leg over the handlebars when I got to the office. Not sure if that gained or lost me some hipster points.
-
• #3774
I'm 80kg atm :/
-
• #3775
I've got into the habit of a dainty step through the 'frame' to dismount. Great until I tried to do the same on a normal bike.
I think I might have seen someone commuting on the 2nd Brompton today in Stockwell, going towards Clapham in the evening. Did your friend keep an eye on recent sales threads on Gumtree or Ebay? Pretty unique combination of colors but difficult to tell in the midst of all the bikes, do not remember if it had same lights or all silver parts sorry
