  • People are out in this shit stealing bars? FFS

Was it locked there all day?

  • It's a Range Rover, in London, of course they can't fucking drive, snow or otherwise.

  • Today of all days I forgot my glasses. Doh! Oh well, guess it was about time for my yearly eyeball gritting.

  • Defo want some goggles and a seakskin coat. With my current level of disheveled, it'd look like I just climb down from Everest or something.

  • Same, Running is easiest and safest for me as I can do 90% off road away from all the sliding cars! Peak Canal looked mega today.

  • First thing I thought of when I saw the paint job. Maybe this is a hint that you need that R34 faced Stagea!!

  • What happens with rim brakes if you've got cable ties on your tyres?

  • just cut a gap in the cable ties where the brake surface is. works the same way as an inverse shim.

  • What happens with rim brakes if you've got cable ties on your tyres?

You get good at pulse braking (and replacing zip ties).

  • You stop, really, really quickly.

  • Only 3 other cyclists seen between SW15 and SE1 although it was much later than normal (9.45am start).

Studded tyres very necessary for the first half a mile or so as none of the local roads had been gritted, almost completely unnecessary for the following 7 miles (but I did enjoy the confidence they give even when I detour into the snow/slush/possible-ice at the side).

That fucking headwind though, slowest commute by a long way (almost twice my fastest ever time). Doing it at the end of a 36h fast was also a bonus.

But: big smug grin / 10.

  • Woop.

Definitely the most reliable transport option today!

Shouting "IS THAT ALL YOU'VE GOT?!" at the sky is optional, but encouraged.

  • Coming in from the west the wind sucked and it felt slow but the roads were mostly fine. Bike paths mostly not clear so I just hung to the road. There were a few other bikes out but less traffic in general. I also left later than usual.

  • loving all the snowy pics makes me miss london

  • Also one rider in ski helmet and goggles. #style

(No style for me. Audax UK buff and a Republic of Anaerobia 'Veni Vidi Vomiti' casquette.)

  • Hi @scultura, amazing, they were 10 speed 5700

  • Yep, all day, as it has been for the last 6 months. My office overlooks it and it's normally pretty busy - opposite Cycle Surgery. I guess someone finally scoped it. Oh well. Once more unto the breach dear friends!

  • Let me know if you need some bars. Got a set of these you can have if you can cover P&P

What size stem do you need?

  • I wore a PX buff today and merino cap under aero helmet with hand-me-down jacket over tshirt and longs. Like a budget audaxer that had stolen a kid's bike.

  • ^ I've got some 31.8mm stems kicking around..

  • SS Beater today. Can’t be arsed de sludging the group set on my regular bike. 23 tyres felt way skinny though. Quicker than walking and less stressful than a part suspended public transport system.

My usual cut through the Victoria Park roads was daft though. Basically an ice rink with over excited dogs bombing about.

  • Hello, I am planning to commute form Maida Vale, W9 to Canary Wharf on my fixie Dolan Seta this afternoon ! Anyone cycled through Hyde Park, Green Park, Cycling Highway along Thames river, along DLR cycling path?

  • Today was not the day for a flat and no tools. Had to trudge 30 mins in wrong direction to get to shop.

On the other hand I am very pleased with my winter boots, they may be the worlds most ugly shoes ever but boy they're warm and dry.

I found the roads actually worse today, as the sludge was slipper than when it was nice dry snow. Still, 29x2.35 tyres made light work of my cross country route though Hyde Park.

Anyone know what was happening in Baker street btw?

    EDIT: Electrical fire http://www.hamhigh.co.uk/news/baker-street-evacuated-after-suspected-electrical-fire-1-5415614
