  • Doesn't count as a tag, your bike's not in shot.

    Oh, wait.

    Congratulations!

  • well done, can I sub add that I have endured your rides and change of route on the fly! (ツ)

  • Awesome well done! I hope to have this after PBP next year.

  • A cautionary tale, people - if you decide to ride AWE and the BBC weather site says it will be "squally" - beware!

I'm not sure of the layman's translation of this meteorological term, but I think it is something akin to "fucking horrible"

    Nice day awheel though.

  • Anybody on the Knights Templar Compasses & Cross tomorrow?

  • Anyone riding Chiltern Grit this weekend?

  • 4th RRtY ride yesterday, a DIY to Cambridge and back. Though it was pretty easy on paper (very flat, plenty of places to stop) it was the hardest 200 I've done yet. On the return leg it started snowing and coming back through the city just killed our speed. That said, the morning was pretty beautiful and we stopped at that cycling cafe in Saffron Walden which was lovely.

Been having issues with my hands and feet on my last two 200km rides. I did a few last year before starting my RRtY effort and had no issues, besides feeling a bit achey the next day, and November and December's efforts weren't too bad. Winter ones have also coincided with me swapping over my stem for a shorter one and also getting different bars (this was after some bastard nicked the stem, bars and shifters off my bike). I feel more comfy on my bike and can use the drops now, but over longer distances I get numb little fingers and also my left ankle kills the next day; can't work out if it's a winter issue (though I don't suffer with cold extremities) or bike fit because of a shorter stem and different bars (think they're a bit wider).

My next RRtY is a 300 so I guess I need to sort all this out :/

  • The girlie and I finished the Boat Trip yesterday. Took a bit longer than her last 200k I think (gears slow you down). I think her saddle slipped at some point so she was in a bit of pain and the wind on the way out was grinding her down. It snowed and hailed which was kinda fun. Nice pub control at the halfway point. Felt like quite an effort this ride, which is odd considering I've ridden the Perm version a tonne of times without really thinking it was difficult. Lots of rolling roads and the wind and cold probably made it quite tough. I think there was still half the field due in when we'd finished and I didn't think we were moving fast at all. Rimas rode but I didn't see him. He was done in 9hrs I think.

  • Maybe the shorter stem is straightening your arms (do you lock your arms out?). Could then be causing you to ride with cocked wrists. Not sure how that would hurt your ankle though :)

If it's only one ankle - double check your cleats/shoes for any misalignment.

  • Well done. What's the 300 gonna be ?

  • Well done. What's the 300 gonna be ?

  • Thanks!

An ECE to the start, and back, of the Man of Kent 200. Ridden the route down there so many times so it should be fine as long as I sort out my comfort issues on the bike.

@hippy - my boyfriend often comments that it looks like my arms are locked. I've picked up that bike fit book from the library so I'll have a look and make some adjustments. My money's definitely on the stem. Goddamn it.

  • My missus locks her arms out a lot. I throw Soreen at her until she stops...

What length stem is it? What length do you need?

  • I replaced my nicked 80mm stem with a 60mm one. So I probably need an 80mm one.

  • Hey guys, I’ve just made these stickers. They’re available on my website.

And there’s the LFGSS ones too, with money going to the forum.

  • anyone at the Tay and Forth 200km next sunday?>

  • Anyone know how strict the 'mudguards required' policy on a calendar event is?

  • Is the event marked M or NM? http://www.aukweb.net/events/facilitieskey/

If not, email the organiser and check (office FAQ here: http://www.aukweb.net/aboutauk/faq/#11)

  • It's marked M, http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/18-389/

I'd be willing to risk it but thought I'd check if anyone has experience of it being enforced...

  • Don’t waste everybody’s time and fit some mudguards if you would like to visit any of the facilities the organiser has secured.

  • Or don't waste your own time and don't sit around in cafes!

  • And don't ride near anyone else.
